Summary:
This position will enable Programme staff and partners to
execute their responsibilities in a safe and appropriate manner and to ensure
that the Programme follows appropriate security management procedures.
Reporting Lines:

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop
and maintain security procedures, systems and plans which enable the
Programme to operate safely and effectively (including communications
systems, emergency preparedness etc). Lead development of Programme
security policy for approval by Programme management.
- Regularly
assess security updates and threats and provide recommendations on
Programme planning and decision making in relation to these.
- Monthly
update to management on security situation and arrangements at the
Programme, including areas deemed necessary for improvement so as to
ensure a continuous safety of Programme employees, partners and resources.
- Monitor
travel advisories and provide travel risk assessment for Programme staff
and partners.
- Management
of externally-sourced security providers by ensuring that all security
activities are conducted efficiently and professionally (personnel, alarm
and monitoring equipment).
- Management
of security controls and procedures so as to provide a safe environment
for Programme employees, partners and resources
- Programme
focal point of contact for security and emergency agencies and services,
maintaining close relationships and providing information on local
conditions.
- Ensure
that Programme rules and regulations in regards to entry and exit of
persons are strictly observed.
- Any
other security-related duties assigned by management.
Skills and Competence:
Qualifications:
First degree from a recognised University (graduate from the Armed Forces Staff College considered as an equivalent academic attainment).
Experience and other skills:

First degree from a recognised University (graduate from the Armed Forces Staff College considered as an equivalent academic attainment).
Experience and other skills:
- Minimum
5 years’ experience in the armed forces or police (at least three years at
captain
- Inspector
rank or equivalent) or 5 years’ experience in similar position in other
organizations
- Valid
driving license with experience for over two years
- General
knowledge of Kenyan laws and government regulation pertaining to law
enforcement.
- Computer
literate (Microsoft Word and Excel)
- Valid
Certificate of Good Conduct
- Fluency
in Kiswahili and English
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience
in uniformed services and experience in research or non-profit
organizations.
- Additional
training in the following areas - basic surveillance, security management,
- Criminology,
disaster and risk management, first aid, and fire fighting.
