provides financial support for eligible development programmes and initiatives
in Kenya.
KfW’s financial cooperation follows innovative approaches and provides besides finance, complementary technical support.
KfW maintains a close dialogue with the implementing partners and guides them

Work is conducted in close coordination with KfW’s German partners, who together form the German Development Cooperation.
Drawing on internationally recognised expertise in all development-policy issues, KfW supports the Kenyan Government and other partners in the areas of water and sanitation, health, renewable energy and the promotion of the private sector in agriculture.
Furthermore, KfW supports primary education in urban slum areas
and has also established a Carbon Fund to address climate change issues.
Program Officer - Agriculture
Reporting to the Director of KfW/DEG Office in Nairobi, the Program Officer-Agriculture we seek, will be based in Nairobi and will support the Program Manager, Agriculture and Natural Resources who is based in Frankfurt, Germany, in the management of KfW funded programmes in Kenya.
In particular, you will be expected to:
Program Officer - Agriculture
Reporting to the Director of KfW/DEG Office in Nairobi, the Program Officer-Agriculture we seek, will be based in Nairobi and will support the Program Manager, Agriculture and Natural Resources who is based in Frankfurt, Germany, in the management of KfW funded programmes in Kenya.
In particular, you will be expected to:
- Oversee
the implementation of our programmes in Kenya especially in facilitating
constructive dialogue and follow-up with partners and in monitoring
project progress
- Represent
KfW and actively participate in and/or organize as necessary meetings and
field visits e.g. sector working groups, donor groups, technical working
groups, site progress visits and missions
- Review
project related documents and reports, summarize and forward to
Headquarters
- Monitor
major developments in the agricultural sector and contribute to the identification
and preparation of new projects in the sector of agriculture and natural
resources
- Coordinate
sector related issues with German Embassy, GIZ, local partners and other
stakeholders
- Ensure
constant information exchange with HQ and close cooperation and
information sharing between German agencies and other partners
Requirements:
- Masters
Degree in economics, agricultural economics or related field relevant for
operational work in the agriculture sector
- 5
years+ of professional experience that is relevant to this position such
as project management, irrigation and value chain management.
- Experience
in development cooperation and related project preparation and supervision
is an advantage
- Knowledge
of Kenya’s agriculture sector, institutions and key players (political
economy)
- Solid
experience of report writing and excellent communication with proven
experience of engaging partners and governmental in technical and
political conversations
- Excellent
command of English is essential while German language capacity is an
advantage
- Ability
and willingness to travel within Kenya, EAC and Germany.
