Our program is proven impactful – every year, we weigh thousands of harvests and measure more than 100% average gain in farm income per acre. We are growing quickly. In six years, we have grown to serve 135,000 farm families with more than 500 full-time field staff.

Job Description 

One Acre Fund is a rapidly growing organization; we are seeking individuals to take position in the organization as District Bookkeepers. One Acre Fund is looking for experiences, talented and candidates who are committed to making a difference in farmers’ lives.

Contract details: Permanent and subject to performance

Candidate Profile 

Interested Applicants must meet the following criteria and requirements (all of equal importance):

  1. Completion and good results in high school and college
  2. 2-5 years work experience in a similar capacity, with excellent references
  3. Strong work ethic and strong numerical skills
  4. Attention to detail
  5. Good computer literacy and database management abilities
  6. Quick learner and team player
  7. Excellent written and verbal communicator
  8. Strong sense of accountability and responsibility
  9. A logical mind with the capacity to overcome difficult problems creatively
  10. Good organizational skills
  11. A strong sense of ethics, honesty and integrity
Bookkeeper Roles and Responsibilities
  • Record and update all relevant client information on a weekly basis (enrollment, inputs, repayment)
  • Quality check, and reconcile repayment vs revenue data on a weekly basis across various trackers
  • Generate weekly repayment and revenue reports for the District leadership and Headquarters
  • Follow-up with the appropriate field staff to resolve discrepancies or questions on client information
  • Record all district cash transfers, expenses and revenues, while observing and enforcing all expense compliance rules
  • Filing of Client and District Documentation with Treasurer and/or Data Entry Specialist assistance
  • Assisting with data-entry or tracking needs to support other district operational needs
  • Work with the Treasurer and Data Entry Specialist to accomplish District Finance Team goals

Location

The candidate should be willing to reside in our areas of operation in the Western regions of Kenya, which include, but are not limited to: Bungoma, Chwele, Teso, Webuye, Lugari, Butere, Busia, and Kakamega

Timeline: Resumes should be submitted by 2nd May 2O12. We will begin interviews in March and plan to have new staff begin in March.
