National Water Conservation & Pipeline Corporation (NWCPC) was established under the State Corporations Act, Chapter 446 of the Laws of Kenya vide Legal Notice 270 of 24th June, 1988.

Following the enactment of the Water Act (2002), the Corporation’s roles changed and it assumed the following new mandate:

  • To develop state schemes and spearhead dam construction for water supplies, flood control and other multi-purpose use, land drainage and construction of dykes.
  • To carry out ground water recharge using flood water and drilling of boreholes on behalf of the government.
  • To develop new, retain existing and expand bulk water supply to Water Services Boards and other service providers.
The Corporation is now seeking to recruit suitable, self driven, result oriented, highly motivated and qualified personnel to fill the following vacant positions on permanent and pensionable basis to be stationed in Nairobi.

Job Title:
 Chief Legal Officer

Grade/Scale:
 NWC 10

Vacancy No: NWCPC/06/2011-2012

Positions Vacant: 1

Requirements for Appointment
  • Must be in possession of Bachelors degree in Law.
  • Must be in possession of Masters degree in Law.
  • Must be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
  • Must hold a Current Law Practicing Certificate.
  • Must be Registered with the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries (K).
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Has an experience of 9 years as a practising Advocate.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • To advise on legal and regulatory matters, constitution of the Board and stakeholders meeting. Advise on corporate governance.
  • To ensure safe custody of collaterals and chattels and other organization properties.
  • To coordinates issuance of legal undertakings.
  • To advise on negotiations and takes part in corporate deals provision of secretarial services to the Board and its Committees and liaising with external lawyers and other legal bodies.
Job Title: Senior Legal Officer

Requirements for Appointment
  • Must be in possession of Bachelors degree in Law.
  • Must be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
  • Must hold a Current Law Practicing Certificate.
  • Must be Registered with the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries (K).
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Has experience of 6 years as a Practising Advocate.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • To advise on legal and regulatory matters, constitution of the Board and stakeholders meeting.
  • To advise on Corporate Governance.
  • To ensure safe custody of collaterals and chattels and other organization properties.
  • To coordinate issuance of legal undertakings.
  • Deputizes for Chief Legal Officer.
  • To advise on negotiations and takes part in corporate deals provision of secretarial services to the Board and its Committees and liaising with external lawyers and other legal bodies.
Job Title: Legal Officer II

Requirements for Appointment
  • Must be in possession of Bachelors Degree in Law.
  • Must be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
  • Computer Proficiency.
  • Has an experience of the above post for a minimum period of two (2) years.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • To monitor compliance with legal regulatory framework.
  • To manage litigations.
  • To issue instructions to auctioneers, advocate and valuers.
  • To advise staff disciplinary committee on prosecution procedures and legal requirements.
  • To participate in design and implementation of local agreements, international documents, contract, etc.
  • To attend legal meetings, seminars, negotiations, conventions and advising on them when called upon to.
Job Title: Principal Procurement Officer

Requirements for Appointment
  • Must be in possession of Bachelors degree in Commerce / Economics.
  • Must be in possession of Diploma in Supplies Management.
  • Must be registered with Kenya Institute of Supplies Management.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Has experience of 9 years, 3 of them as Senior Procurement Officer or equivalent.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • To ensure efficient provision of procurement services at NWC & PC.
  • To carry out reviews, updates, interpret and implement supplies policies, regulations, procedures and systems in line with Government policy.
  • To prepare and ensure implementation of supplies procedures, and disposal of unserviceable and/or obsolete stores.
  • To approve re-order levels, establish and maintain supply chain linkages for the benefit of the organization.
  • To carry out supervision, guidance, training and development of staff in the Procurement Section.
