Position:
 Resource Mobilization Officer(RMO)

REF: - WSTF/3/1/RMO/2012
Location
 : Nairobi with frequent travel to the field

Purpose of the position : The Resource Mobilization Officer will mobilize adequate resources nationally and internationally to enhance access to water and sanitation in areas of Kenya without adequate services. He/ She will be reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and will be responsible for the following:-

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chief Executive Officer in marketing and fundraising through development of relevant proposals
  • Develop and implement strategies for sourcing funds from bilateral, multilateral, private companies and individuals
  • Negotiate and manage funding agreements with financiers
  • Regularly reporting and documenting WSTF activities to the resources mobilization committee
  • Conduct basic research on stakeholders’ opinions and practices
  • Constantly identifying potential new partners
  • Work closely with the Public Relations Department to represent and implement the organization’s communication strategies to donors
  • Coordinate Private Public Partnership resources mobilization activities
  • Negotiating and managing the funding of financial agreements and MoU’s with financiers
  • Ensure the competitive and fair utilization of funds to the satisfaction of partners
  • Participate in budget preparation and monitoring finances together with Finance Manager, Audit Committee, and accountants
  • Create innovative fund raising mechanisms
Qualifications and Key Competencies
  • Must have a Bachelors degree in development studies
  • Masters degree in relevant field will be an added advantage
  • At least five (5) years relevant experience in fund raising
  • Experience in interacting with different donors is an added advantage
  • Knowledge in designing and structuring of public private partnerships
  • Have excellent fund raising and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of water sector reforms is an added advantage
  • Have a good working knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel, Word and internet services
  • Must be able to project a positive and professional image of the Fund
  • Must be articulate and analytical
  • Posses excellent communication skills (Verbal and Written)
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 : 2008 is an added advantage
