Outreach Project Officer Job Vacancy


Our client, Mathare Community Outreach, a community based organization working with disadvantaged children and their families in Mathare Valley seeks to recruit a highly professional and diligent Project Officer.
The Project Officer will be responsible for leading and guiding the implementation of the project activities, providing leadership to other staff in the achievement of the Child Development Centre (CDC) objectives and outcomes, and ensuring that holistic child development takes effect through activities stipulated in the Programme Field Manual (PFM)

Main Duties and Responsibilities
a.    Supervision of Project Implementation Activities
·         Direct the day to day activities of the Project.
·         Ensure active participation of children in programs and activities that promote their spiritual development.
·         Ensure that children participate in programs and activities that promote holistic child development.
·         Ensure that the project complies with agreed standards and Key Result Indicators (KRIs)
·         Ensure implementation of Project Analysis Collaboration Tool (PACT) plans and recommendations.
·         Update donors on the development of the sponsored children.
b.    Planning and Coordination
·         Attend all Church Partnership Committee (CPC) meetings.
·         Nurture and ensure productive relationships with the CPC and Representative of the donor agency supporting the project.
·         Direct the planning process for the project in consultation with the Project Committee.
·         Ensure that project activities are implemented within approved work plans and budget.
·         Compile and ensure timely submission of weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
·         Generate applicable proposals, at the advice of the CPC, and forwarding them to the PF.
·         Coordinate meetings of the parents of the sponsored children and other stakeholders.
c.    Leadership
·         Provides leadership to other staff in the achievement of the Child Development Centre (CDC) objectives and outcomes.
·         Ensure regular consultations and briefings with the representative of the agency supporting the project.
Qualifications and Experience
·         A holder of Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work or Community Development
·         Certificate in Child Development will be of an added advantage.
·          Should have strong background in financial management.
·         At least 3 years relevant work experience. (Previous experience working with children in slums will be an added advantage).
·         Proficiency in computer applications.
·         Must be a mature born again Christian and a letter of recommendation from your pastor a must.
·         The ideal candidate for the position should be in the 30 to 35 years age bracket.

·         Effective communication skills and be fluent in oral and written English and Kiswahili.

·         Good facilitation and training skills.
·         Ability to develop, nurture and maintain productive networks.
