Head of Service.

Overview of Role


The Service Centre at Appliance World Ltd - Uganda is like a small company on its own.

  • As the Head of Service you will be required to fully and independently manage the Service Centre.
  • This means opening it in the morning.
  • Organising the technicians, tools, work schedule, etc.
  • In essence the SVC repairs faulty electronic items brought in by customers.
  • When a customer collects his repaired item he should walk away with a smile because he has never been treated so well.
  • The customer is not buying from Appliance World because they are the cheapest, but because we offer unrivalled service which is second is none.
  • The staff in your Service Centre must work as a team to create 100% harmony and customer satisfaction.
  • You should be able to handle and resolve all staff disputes.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assigning Roles and Responsibilities for the staff in your Service Centre.
  • Ensuring that all customers are served with excellence and that you personally deal with larger customers.
  • Setting the charges for repair and ensuring that each customer is invoiced and pays.
  • Ordering and inventory management of spare parts. Ensuring adequate stock levels. ‘Dead’ stock should be kept below 5%.
  • Adhering to all Key Performance Indicators such as, RTAT, no repeat repairs, quality of repair, speed of repair, attitude, and dress code among others.
  • Purchasing spare parts locally and being accountable for Petty Cash which you will use for small expenses.
  • Preparing a KPI report, a Stock Take Report and a monthly P&L report.
  • Communicating with LG Electronics regarding, training, epidemic faults, ordering of spare parts, etc.
  • Reviewing what your technicians have done at the end of the day to ensure that they have worked efficiently and to ensure that all clients dealt with are satisfied
Qualifications and Skills.
  • A bachelors degree in either electrical or mechanical eng.
Senior Accountant.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Cash balancing per day, making sure that cash received and paid out physically matches book cash.
  • Preparing salaries on time every month with appropriate deductions.
  • Entering and reviewing payment vouchers, receipts, invoices & reconciling all statements of accounts.
  • Preparing and filing VAT returns, paying PAYE and NSSF.
  • Ensuring proper, neat & labelled filing of all documents.
  • Balancing and banking cash without discrepancies.
  • Preparing daily bank balances & checking forex rates.
  • Reconciliation of bank statements.
  • Stock taking and stock reconciliation in coordination with storekeepers.
  • Setting Roles and Responsibilities for accounts assistants and monitoring that their work is done accurately and on time.
  • Coordinating with the imports/ exports department to ensure that all documentation is kept by the accounts department, goods received/gone out are entered into TALLY and costing is done.
  • Providing URA with information required for statutory audits.
  • Attending debt collection meetings, setting debt collection targets and people responsible and ensuring target collection.
  • Preparing Profit & Loss statements, Balance Sheets, Trial Balances & Ratio analysis on the ‘health’ of the business.
  • You will be asked to do some other work not related to your field from time to time in the area of administration.
Qualifications and Skills
  • A bachelors degree in Accounting and finance.
  • Knowledge in Tally.ERP9 software.
  • Two (2) years working experience.
Service Centre Technician.

Duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to repair home appliances such as microwaves, washing machines, refrigerators, LCDs, Televisions, Freezers, plasmas among others.
  • Ensuring that you maintain repair and service records for all the items coming in and out of the service centre.
  • In some cases, you will be servicing and repairing items from the customers’ premises.
  • Keeping records of the spares and reporting to the service centre manager when stock is minimum to ensure that adequate stock is maintained.
  • Reporting to the supervisors the progress of the tasks you will be handling.
  • Installation of items for our clients either at their offices or their homes.
  • You will also be asked to perform some other duties from time to time.
