WASH Advisor Job in Kenya

Save the Children UK in Kenya works in the North Eastern Province (Dadaab, Wajir, Eldoret and Mandera) with Programmes in Child Protection, Nutrition, Education, WASH, Livelihoods and Health.

Job Purpose

The incumbent will provide technical support and coordinate all activities related to WASH Emergency and D
evelopment projects for Save the Children UK in Kenya. 

S/he will also undertake surveillance of evolution of WASH indicators and the implementation of WASH strategy. 

The postholder will represent Save the Children to partners and manage local partnerships while ensuring an integrated approach of interventions among its six sectors of intervention (WASH, Education, Child Protection, Health, Nutrition, Food Security and Livelihoods). 

You will ensure high quality implementation of WASH standards in line with organisational and regional service quality guidelines to deliver high quality programmes including advocacy for children, and to serve members and their donors.

Person specification

For this role, you’ll need to have 7 years of operational & strategic experience in humanitarian / development context, 5 of which must be in the field of WASH, alongside a post graduate qualification in either environmental engineering, geology, hydrogeology, civil works or Public Health.

Understanding and knowledge of the WASH sector within the Kenyan context; experience in management of WASH works, bidding and contracting process; and exceptional ability to influence in an advisory capacity to ensure good quality implementation for beneficiaries and donors, organisational learning and contribute to broader policy analysis. 

Additionally the candidate must have excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical and fundraising skills.

This role will require the ability to travel at short notice, occasionally to remote and insecure locations. The ability to speak Swahili, Somali or Arabic is preferred but not essential.
