Reporting to the Communications specialist, the IT Officer will be based in Nairobi working closely with the Global IT department based in Pact’s Washington DC office in ensuring the smooth running of IT systems and support within the Kenya country office.
Specific duties include but not limited to:
- Installation,
Maintenance, and support of Windows servers (2003, 2008, 2008R).
- Design,
implementation and support of Active Directory
- Developing
and implementing various training and instruction programs for users on
the use of operating systems, networking, applications, and databases.
- Administration
of software requiring integration with the server e.g. QuickBooks, AccPAC,
SERENIC and ensuring compliance with current site licenses, designs, as
well as managing IT related projects such as organizational website and
partner’s websites as needed.
- Evaluation
of existing computer systems, hardware and performance, system upgrades,
based on end user requirements, installing, integrating, customizing,
configuration, and testing new system and hardware.
- Flexibility
to adapt to and willingness to learn or teach new technologies; and be on
call whenever needed to give support to staff.
Qualifications, Experience and desired Skills
- University
Degree in IT related field e.g. Computer Science and Information Systems
or any other related field with at least 3 years relevant working
experience in a busy NGO environment will be an added advantage.
- Applicants
with Professional Certificates such as MCSE, CCNA, Linux +/LPI and MSSQL
and MYSQL database applications are highly desirable.
- UNIX
Administration knowledge, knowledge of Microsoft lIS and Apache is preferred,as
well as knowledge of Microsoft windows 2000/2003 server.
- Experience
in network administration, advances knowledge of database management
(MSSQL, MYSOL etc)
