The Kenya Agricultural Research Institute (KARI) is a Parastatal
established by the Government of Kenya under the Science and Technology Act Cap
250 to carry out Agricultural Research to support the Crop and Livestock
Production sectors of the country.
Beside this core function, the Institute collaborates closely with the farmers, pastoralists, extension staff and other National and International Development Partners.
KARI manages thirty-three (33) Centers inclusive of the sub-centers located all over the country with a view of developing and disseminating technology, tailored to meet the needs of different categories of farmers in various Agroecological zones and Socio-economic Circumstances.
In order to enhance the provision of services, the Institute would like to fill

Position: Assistant Director, Information Management and Communication Technology (IMCT)

The Assistant Director, Management and Communication Technology will be reporting to the Director through the Deputy Director, Outreach and Partnerships.
The specific duties will entail to:
- Plan,
budget, organize and coordinate activities in the programme
- Compile
information for official release of new products/ technologies in various
programmes
- Contribute
to the Institute’s Strategic Plans and annual work plans.
- Formulate
and implement the Institute’s Information Management and Communication
Technology policy
- Advise
the Management on Information Management Technology issues.
- Develop,
implement and maintain systems standards
- Carry
out gap analysis to establish areas to be computerized;
- Prepare
progress reports on the systems development;
- Evaluate
systems and ensure adherence to established performance and systems
development,
- Allocate
duties and evaluate performance of staff in the programme
- Any
other official duties assigned.
Requirements for the Job

- A
Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Sciences or any other
related and equivalent qualifications from recognized
University/Institution and;
- A
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Sciences or any other
related and equivalent qualifications from recognized
University/Institution and;
- Served
as Principal Systems Analyst/Programmer or its equivalent, for a period of
not less than three (3) continuous years in the Institute or a large
organization
- Shown
knowledge and competence in systems analysis, design, specific IT
programmes, communications skills and ability to supervise team(s) under
him/her, and
- Demonstrated
competence in working with different hardware and software.
Remuneration
to the above post as follows:-
Salary Scale: RI.13
Ksh. 94,235 x 4,712 – 98,947 x 1,673 – 100,620 x 4,812 – 110,244 x 5,013 –120,270 p.m.
Attractive allowances, commensurate with the responsibilities of the position will be payable.
