World Concern Development Organization, a Relief and Development
Organization, wishes to recruit qualified and competent person for the
following position to be based in Garissa.
Clinical Officer
The overall objective of this position is to facilitate achievement of the medical objectives to reduce morbidity and mortality by improving quality in Primary Health Care Services in Garissa County.
The position will be part of health care responses in the HARRP program forming
a team that will oversee the design, evaluation and implementation of the
health programs. Clinical Officer
The overall objective of this position is to facilitate achievement of the medical objectives to reduce morbidity and mortality by improving quality in Primary Health Care Services in Garissa County.
This includes working closely with government officials, relevant bodies and NGOs and preparation of relevant reports and providing information necessary to direct the program and report to the donors.
Major Responsibilities:
- Provide
day-to-day clinical assessment and diagnosis, classifications, management
and follow-up of patients using health set guidelines.
- Maintain
accurate medical records and other data collection as required for
monitoring and evaluation and research.
- Collecting,
analysing and following up health facility reports, and reporting on
relevant external partners.
- Involved
in the Monitoring and evaluating program process by writing monthly and
quarterly reports.
- Assist
in the co-ordination of health services activities and ensure standardized
services are offered in the targeted clinics.
- Conducting
supervision visits to all health facilities in the Garissa Country that
are supported by World Concern (length of supervision vision may vary from
hours to several days).
- Carry
out outreach activities to the communities e.g. mobile clinics and health
education.
- Assist
the Team leader in monitoring the overall project environment as it
relates to changing realities likely to impact program direction and
program redesign, and formulating such documents as are necessary to guide
future planning.
- Assist
in logistical support functions when local circumstances require it.
- Contribute
technical expertise in line with international best relief practices in
health and actively promote capacity building of local and expat staff as
well as partners where needed.
- Refer
to the Team leader before making any commitment on behalf of World Concern
whether verbal or written.
- Prepare
purchase requests in line with World Concern Logistics procedures, in
coordination with the Team Leader for approval by the Project Coordinator.
Required Education, Skills & Experience:
- 2-3
years work experience with a relief and development organization.
- Diploma
in Clinical Medicine and Surgery and KSCE minimum Grade of C+
- Competence
in the use of MS Office computer packages.
- Strong
capacity building and facilitation skills, accompanied with cross-cultural
sensitivity.
- Strong
interpersonal and Communication skills (oral and written).
- Training
in IMCI is an added advantage
- Ability
to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts,
psychologically stressful environments and physical hardship conditions
with limited resources.
- Conflict
resolution and negotiation skills, preferred.
- Ability
to work under minimum supervision and a team player.
