Behavioural Scientist Job in Nyanza Province, Kenya

Impact Research and Development Organization (IRDO) is a national NGO based in Kisumu and funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), among others. Its principal mandate is to design, implement and evaluate HIV/AIDS research and intervention programs that improve the health status of individuals and local communities.

We are looking for qualified and experienced personnel to fill in the following position in Nyanza Province.

Behavioural Scientist 

Job summary: Provide overall coordination and support of the planning, design, and implementation of several evidence-based HIV-prevention behavioral interventions.

In addition, assist in the identification of appropriate interventions; packaging of interventions for wide-spread dissemination; developing training materials for interventions; and training of facilitators of interventions.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Bachelors degree in Behavioral or Social Sciences, Health Education, Public Health, Sociology, Epidemiology, Anthropology, or other related postgraduate degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in the implementation of HIV prevention behavior change interventions. Masters degree in any of the above field is an added advantage.
  • Excellent written/oral communication, interpersonal and organization skills.
  • Experience and skills in qualitative and quantitative behavioral research methods.
  • Knowledgeable in behavioral survey design and implementation.
  • Capable of coordinating planning and implementation of evidence-based behavioral interventions including behavior change communication strategies and interventions.
  • Demonstrated leadership, management, coordination, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required; excellent report writing skills.
