Milk Powder Factory Manager Kenya Job.

Our client, a leading dairy in the East Africa region is looking to employ a Factory Manager to bring on line and manage a new state-of-the art milk powder factory. Reporting to the General Manager, the Factory Manager will be ultimately responsible for ensuring the factory is run efficiently to produce and dispatch customer orders to specification and on time and achieving agreed key performance indicators. The Factory Manager will maintain confidentiality and be “ambassador” for the company at all times 
The key accountabilities for this role are:
Management Responsibilities:

* Agreeing, monitoring and taking responsibility for budgets and production output targets. Co-ordinating, collating and effectively utilising operations performance data and cost information.
* Maintaining and encouraging a motivated “quality responsibility” focus in all staff with a culture of continuous improvement which encourages input into operations, processes and skills development.
* Providing effective production planning and ensuring effective stock control to achieve planned output. Implementing a DAILY yield monitoring and improvement programme which measures accurately milk powder quality and volume against production.
* Ensuring that all products are manufactured to specifications.
* Monitoring and reducing wastage in all areas with a prioritised list of areas for improvement being followed.
* Ensuring that managers and department staff carry out mandatory and regulatory duties laid down by the company and Health & Safety Requirements and all company and regulatory operation records are kept and maintained in an organised and easily accessible manner.
Leading and Organising Managers
* Providing positive leadership and motivation to the department managers, demonstrating a pro-active attitude to planning, organising, trouble-shooting and addressing all issues.
* Developing a strong customer service focus and flexible response process with managers and team leaders.
* Ensuring that managers fully brief production line team leaders on production schedules, that any issues affecting the achievement of output plans are addressed, and that operations staff are utilised effectively.
* Managing, co-ordinating and interfacing with the department managers to ensure efficient management and scheduling of production in response to customer order requirements.
Employee Recruitment and Management
* Planning factory staff requirements to meet current and future needs.
* Recruiting, inducting, training and motivating staff and ensuring that performance development reviews are carried out at agreed intervals.
* Encouraging and supporting staff development within the framework of a developed training plan. Ensuring that relevant staff are fully certified and trained such as fork-lift truck and hoist operating regulations and all other relevant certification maintained
* Effectively manage production operations, employee’s overtime, holiday schedule, and time-off, and compile necessary staff attendance reports.
* Ensuring that fire, health and safety, and hygiene regulations are visible, understood by all managers and staff and all employees are trained and fully conversant with policy and relevant fire, hygiene, health and safety processes and procedures; that all statutory records are maintained and promptly addressing and dealing with any deviance from or disregard for fire, hygiene, health and safety, and security policy and practices.
* Ensuring that security management is implemented correctly.
Managing Plant & Equipment
* Planning and ensuring the provision of required plant and equipment to service production needs.
* Implementing and maintaining plant and equipment maintenance and calibration schedules including statutory requirements for hoists, pressure vessels etc.
* Ensuring that all plant and equipment is maintained and fully operational.
* Reviewing future plant investment needs to deal with developing production requirements and efficiency improvements.

Minimum Requirements: The ideal candidate will possess the following minimum qualifications and competencies:
* A minimum of 5 years work experience at a senior level in milk powder production related operations.
* Previously worked with Multi Stage Dryers (MSD) or manufactured Agglomerated Instant Milk Powders
* Educated to degree level and / or production and process management qualifications.
* Leadership / team development skills with the ability to prioritise and “focus” on relevant matters.
* Comprehensive technical and food processing engineering knowledge.
* Experienced in implementing and operating ISO 9002 or 22000, HACCP, and similar process management standards.
* Using computer process management systems / operations skills.
* Positive, self-starter, demonstrating fair but firm, leadership style.
* A motivator, with good people skills and the ability to delegate effectively.
* Clear thinker and good communicator.
* Well organised, responsible, demonstrating control and management experience.
* Goal and target oriented.
* Good numeric, analytical, report writing and literacy skills.
* Inquisitive and attentive, ready and willing to tackle issues.
