Business Development Manager

Job Profile

Reporting to the Head of Media Services Unit, the person will be responsible for increasing business portfolio in the Unit. He/she will ensure development and implementation of business strategies for sustainability of the unit.

The job will also involve consolidating and analyzing sales and market data, making business projections and preparing reports. It will also require one to conduct market intelligence, develop business plans for various products, write proposals and make business presentations to clients. The person will be required to provide leadership, support and growth to the sales team by way of coaching and mentoring.

Person Profile
  • MBA graduate from a recognized university
  • Three (3) years managerial experience in sales and marketing in the media and advertising industry
  • Excellent team leadership skills
  • Highly organized, creative, and passionate about sales
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skill
  • A self-motivated, results-oriented, people-person with energy and ability to inspire teams
  • Knowledge of the publishing business is an added advantage
Deputy Editor, Management Magazine

Job Profile

Reporting to the Editor, the successful candidate will play a key role in helping the Editor develop strategies that build on the Management magazine’s brand success in East Africa.

He/she will also be responsible for overseeing the publishing of the magazine, to the highest possible standards. The job will also involve writing, copy editing and proofreading duties as well as heading projects and production of various other publications produced by the unit.

Person Profile
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in any one or more of the following disciplines: Journalism, Communication, Education or Business Studies
  • Professional qualifications in Journalism or Communications will be an added advantage
  • Good knowledge of design software and the publishing industry will be also an added advantage
  • At least five years of writing and editing experience in a media house
  • Good analytical skills and a keen eye for details
  • Ability to focus amidst tight timelines
  • A pleasant personality with good communication and negotiation skills
  • A multi-skilled journalist with excellent leadership and management skills with ability to develop a team
  • A self-motivated, result-oriented with energy and passion for career and professional development
Business Executive - Design / Creative Services

Job Profile

Reporting to the Business Development Manager, the person will be responsible for marketing and selling design/creative services including publishing and branding services.

The person will be required to make proposals and presentations to clients, prepare design tender documents and quotations, coordinate design and printing workflow within agreed timelines, follow up payments, gather information from the market and build client relationships.

Person Profile
  • A Diploma or Degree in Sales and Marketing or a design/creative related field
  • At least two years experience in sales and marketing design/creative related services
  • Knowledge and understanding of design and printing with excellent technical and sales skills in the area of design/creative services
  • Must have worked in a publishing or printing environment
  • Excellent communication skills, inter-personal and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Aged between 25-35 years
  • A highly motivated, self-driven and ambitious person to drive business
  • Ability to respond and proactively engage clients
Business Executive

Job Profile

Reporting to the Business Development Manager, this position involves marketing and selling advertising space in Management magazine and other publications produced by the Unit.

The person should be able to understand the magazine philosophy, clients’ needs and proactively engage clients and advertising agencies to increase business.

Person Profile
  • A university degree in Sales and Marketing
  • Over two years experience in selling media or advertising space
  • Excellent communication, inter-personal and negotiation skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Aged between 25-35 years
  • A highly motivated person with excellent sales, marketing, and communication skills who gets a kick working with targets and commission reward structure.
  • A self-driven, creative and solution-oriented person with ability to proactively engage clients
