Essential Requirements
- Masters
(MR 11) or BSc Degree (MR10) in Mathmatics, Statistics/Computer studies or
Information Technology
- Experience
: With Masters Degree, at least one year experience in a research
organization; with BSc degree, at least three years experience in a
research organization (post internship)
- Proficiency
in English both written and oral.
- Problem
solving ability
- Working
knowledge of statistical analysis packages (SAS, STATA, SPSS)
Desirable Skills:
- Excellent
communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent
knowledge of at least one object oriented programming language (VB.Net,
C++, Visual CE), longitudinal renationalized database management system
and proficiency in standard office tools will be required.
- Knowledge
and some experience in working with any Patient Care Systems (PCS),
FREEZERSWORKS or their equivalence will be an added advantage.
- Ability
to work well with the public and in a team
- Ability
to collaborate with counterparts.
- Evidence
of at least one published manuscript (author or co-author)
- Exercise
of Judgment: Must use good judgment in making decisions and to keep to
protocol as much as possible.
- Report
any necessary variations from the protocol to the study supervisor. Must
be careful to avoid breeching confidentiality agreements with
participants, and be able to interact diplomatically with counterparts and
the public.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure
that forms are received, logged in, scanned into the automated databases
and verified.
- Provide
oversight and guidance to Data Analysts
- Develop
an in-depth understanding of the data management process and the data
being managed.
- Design
and manage databases and data entry procedures
- Deal
with routine problems arising in the course of data handling
- Participate
in the design of data management procedures to achieve optimal efficiency
and quality.
- Assist
with manuscript writing (author/coauthor).
- Perform
other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Terms of Employment:
Contract for 6 (1) year renewable as per KEMRI schemes of service. Probation period for the first 3 months. Salary negotiable within the appropriate grade depending on education, experience and demonstrated competency.
