Reports To: Director, East African
School of Aviation
Job Purpose: To plan the development
and implementation of academic programmes and courses to meet industry needs.
Kenya Civil Aviation
Authority (KCAA) is a
State Corporation under the Ministry of Transport.
Scope of work/duties/responsibilities
§ Plan and approve targets, budgetary guidelines and use of
resources for the development and implementation of academic programmes
§ Coordinate with other higher learning institutions to
acquire/contract out resources to efficiently and profitably deliver relevant
programmes
§ Devise strategies to retain students and maintain recurrent
revenue base
§ Evaluate the long term capability requirements, systems,
equipment and human resources, of the faculties against the School’s Strategic
Plan and determine plans and initiatives to be taken
§ Identify industry needs and students career needs in order to
develop innovative faculty programmes that increase both student intake and
revenue from industry
§ Resolve staff issues, including disciplinary matters,
appointments, contracts, promotions etc in the Academic Services faculty.
§ Liaise with external stakeholders/organisations as may be
necessary for realisation of the faculty objectives.
§ Coordinate with the Quality Management department to
implement quality systems
§ Represent the East African School of Aviation in tertiary
education councils at the national level
§ Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Principal
East African School of Aviation
Qualifications
§ A Master’s degree in a related field.
§ A Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) will be an added advantage.
§ Training in management and leadership
Experience
§ 5 years experience as an academic administrator,
§ 2 years experience in an institution of higher learning.
§ Proven experience for financial accountability and people
management.
§ Experience in the aviation industry will be an added
advantage.
Knowledge and skills
§ Knowledge of industry trends and needs.
§ Business acumen, ability to achieve quality in the most profitable
way
§ Knowledge of the curriculum development process.
§ Proficiency in office suite and desktop publishing tools.
§ Knowledge of relevant ICAO standards and national
requirements applicable to training institutions will be an added advantage.
