PCL is a management consulting firm providing support to the public and private sectors. PCL has been in consulting business for the last 18 years since 1993.
As part of its business objectives it has started a Business Institute to offer quality accountancy, management and information technology (ICT) training courses to aspiring Kenyans who want to expand their knowledge to meet the demand in the job market.
We are therefore looking for qualified and experienced personnel to fill in the following position:
Director of Studies
Ref No. PCL/Col/001

This will be a permanent position. The Director of Studies will initially be responsible for the running of the Institute covering both areas of training and capacity building courses.
The detailed responsibilities will include:
§  Day to day management of the Institute
§  Developing, implementing and constantly reviewing appropriate programmes to address the identified needs;
§  Reviewing the impact of the training provided and making necessary adjustments;
§  Coordinating and guiding teaching activities, including drawing up of time tables and allocation/supervision of academic staff as well as students;
§  Coordinating research and development of new programmes;
§  Editing of research reports, publications and journals as well as overseeing the management and utilization of libraries, archives and other learning resources;
§  Supervising tutors, trainersl and facilitators, and regularly evaluating their performance against set criteria.
§  Developing and maintaining cooperation with other institutions for referencing and other joint programmes and certification.
Qualifications and Experience:
§  Master’s degree in economics or business administration from a recognized university.
§  A minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a lecturer at a university or college with administrative responsibilities;
§  Has well developed managerial skills with focus for institutional growth and development;
§  Has good communication and interpersonal skills; and
§  Must be fully computer literate;

ICT Tutors

This is a part time teaching jobs to be undertaken with specific times as per the Institute’s schedukled time table.
The responsibilities for this position will be to develop the requires teaching materials in accordance with the Institute’s developed curriculum; undertake the teaching and couching of students; and periodically assess the students’ performance through examinations and other forms of assessments to ensure that the Institute’s products are of high quality and meet the job market needs.
The right candidate for this position calls for a person with the following education and skills:
§  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or Information Technology. Those with Masters degree will have definite advantage.
§  At least 3 years of experience in similar institutions.
§  Proven ability to mentor and motivate students so as to realize their full potential
§  Good communication and interpersonal skills
§  Good leadership skills and a team player.
§  He/she must not be more than 35 years old;
 CPA/KATC  Tutors
Ref No. PCL/Col/003
We are looking for various tutors to undertake part time teaching of students enrolled in the Institute for KATC I and II, CPA sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.
The candidates will require to indicate in the application the subject they would be interested in teaching based on the current syllabus from the Kenya Accountants and secretaries Examination Board (KASNEB).
General responsibility
§  To development of appropriate teaching and scheme of work for students in accordance with the Kenya Accountants and secretaries Examination Board (KASNEB) syllabus.
§  To undertake teaching and couching of students.
§  To examine and continuously assess the students to ensure the students are adequately prepared for their national examinations.
General Qualification and other Candidate’s Requirements:
§  Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent. Those with Masters relevant to accounting and finance will have a definite advantage.
§  Must be qualified accountant with CPA (K) or its equivalent
§  At least 3 years of experience in similar institutions.
§  Must be computer literate with knowledge of the working of various accounting packages available in the market
§  He/she must not be more than 35 years old.
Director of Programmes

We are looking for a part time director of studies to be responsible for undertaking responsibilities for various courses which are offered by the Institute. The specific courses, which the Institute proposes to offer for now include the following:
§  Budgeting and Budgetary Controls – this is a specialized course offered to public sector employees both in the national government and county governments to improve their skills in management of public funds;
§  Treasury Management – this course will be offered to both public private sector employees involved with cash management and other treasury matters;
§  Corporate Governance – this course will be offered to both public and private sector employees who are keen to improve their skill in governance. The course will particularly be important to all public sector senior staff under both national and county governments;
§  Leadership -   this course will be offered to both public and private sector employees who are keen to improve their skill in ledership. The course will particularly be important to all public sector senior staff under both national and county governments;
§  Project Cycle Management – this course will be very useful to the implementation of projects by the new institutions created by the constitution. Hence the course will be useful to all senior managers responsible for implementation of projects in their area of operations; and
§  Finance for Non Finance Managers – this is a specialized course offered to public sector employees both in the national government and county governments to improve their skills in management of public funds.
Each applicant will be required to indicate the course they would be interested based on their qualifications and area of expertise.
General responsibilities include:
§  Research and develop training materials which have relevance to the practice in the sectors involved;
§  Programme the delivery of the training in conjunction with the Institute Marketing Executive and coordinating the training programs;
§  Undertake directly or in conjunction with recruited assistants, the ttraining workshops etc; and
§  Maintain standards and participate in monitoring and evaluation of programs.
Qualifications and Experience:
§  Must have a minimum of Master’s degree in in relevant field of study. Those who have PhDs will have definite advantages.
§  Must currently be holding lecturer positions or has been a lecturer in recognized universities and have practiced teaching of similar subjects in those institutions for a period of at least three years
§  Must have conducted research for the government or been involved in the consultancy involving the subject area for the government or other relevant institutions for a period of not less than three years cumulatively;
§  must have good communication and interpersonal skills; and
§  Must be fully computer literate;
