AKF East Africa invites applications for the following position based in Nairobi.

Programme Associate, Education

The Education Programme Associate is a key member of the regional education team and will report to the Regional Programme Officer, Education.

S/he will be responsible for providing support to AKF education programme.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the education grants in the sector including ensuring timely and high quality narrative reports and adherence to donor grant conditions;
  • Participate in, organise, and/or lead capacity building and training for AKF education projects and partners staff on improving the overall understanding of donor requirements, including producing high quality reports;
  • Oversee activity realignment of program activities and budgets utilisation with donor requirements in consultation with the Regional Education Programme Officer;
  • Ensure delivery of high quality communications materials in consultation with the Communication Officer for external audiences;
  • Provide support in identifying potential funding for education programmes and support in the development of new programme proposals and concept notes.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • University Degree preferably in education, international development, or related fields;
  • Proven experience in grant management in the context of complex integrated development programms;
  • Experience in the development of various communications products is desirable;
  • Excellent writing and reporting skills;
  • Good analytical mind with ability to grasp complex details;
  • Strong commitment to development issues and willingness to help build capacity of programme staff
