Finance Assistant Contract NGO Jobs Kenya.

Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) Somalia/Kenya is a two Country Program with four field offices in Dadaab (Kenya), Hargeisa (Somaliland), Bossaso (Puntland) and Mogadishu (South Central). NRC has been present in Somaliland since early 2004 and expanded to Puntland in 2006, Mogadishu and Dadaab in 2007. In a short time NRC established Education, Shelter/Sanitation, Distribution and Camp Management 
projects for IDPs, refugees and local population in Somalia and Kenya. NRC also has a coordination office in Nairobi, Kenya that was established in 2006. 
Position Vacant: Finance Assistant
Reporting to: Finance Officer
Duty Station: Nairobi

Duration of Contract: ASAP to 31st December 2011 (with possibility of extension subject to performance & funding) 
Main Responsibilities include:
* Record all movements of cash into cash record form
* Prepare all payment vouchers and checks
* Transfer funds to other NRC area offices
* Do cash count at least once a week
* Do end of month cash count with the FAM/FC or another expatriate staff
* Do end of month reconciliation of Nairobi bank accounts and cashboxes
* Prepare and arrange for bank withdrawals and transfers, and present them to FAM/FC for verification
* Carry out all payments previously validated by Management
* Check the quality of all invoices and receipts (date, name, item, quantity, price, total…)
* Ensure that all the supporting documents (purchase requests, quotations, authorization of payment, etc.) are attached to the receipts and invoices
* Follow up on advances and refunds
* Accurate maintenance of Nairobi NRC financial/accounting papers and transactions
* Update the cash and bank books on daily basis and send monthly accounts to the Finance Officer before the 5th of the following month
Required skills and qualifications:
* Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
* Good working knowledge of excel spread sheets.
* Two to four years of experience in this job or similar with UN agency or INGO.
* Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. 
* Fluency in the English, both oral and written.
