Brand Manager Job Vacancy in Nairobi Kenya

Position Title: Brand Manager

Reports To: Marketing Manager

Duty Station: Nairobi, Kenya

The position will be based at the Company’s Head Office, just outside Nairobi and will report to the Marketing Manager.

Amongst others, the holder will be responsible or assist with for the following:

Brand Management


  • Development of brand strategies that ensure brand profitability
  • Developing various product strategies
  • Preparing monitoring and controlling brand budgets
  • Developing core positioning and repositioning messages for the brand to ensure growth
  • Analyze the various brand sales performance and develop reactive or proactive strategies.
  • Membership of the product development committee that reviews product quality and ensure that the brand keeps developing new products in line with the changing consumer needs
  • Continuously monitor the market to determine threats to the brand, including substitutes.
  • Ensuring that all brand activities are in line or do not contradict the corporate image
Sponsorship & Events
  • Make proposals for sponsorships that will help the brand to achieve its set marketing objectives.
  • Maximising on sponsorships and ensuring that the brand attains mileage in terms of sales, publicity, brand association etc from each event / sponsorship
  • Keeping a Calendar of events that the brand is sponsoring and receive or write reports on them with clear recommendations on how to activate the events in future.
  • Working closely with the events team and ensuring that the team is clearly briefed about the brand objectives for the sponsorship prior to the event.
  • Developing plans on how to sponsor various events or sponsorships and ensuring that they are well executed and the brand interacts with the targeted consumers
  • Carrying out brand research, or monitoring consumer behaviour during our sponsored events
  • Assist in analyzing sponsorship mileage achieved.
Point of Sale 
  • Ensuring that the brand maintains good, impactful strategically placed POS placements in outlets
  • Maintain adequate stocks of Point of Sale materials and liaise with central stores for monthly stock figures.
  • Develop good POS materials that help achieve set brand objectives.
Sales Promotions 
  • Ensure that promotional materials are ready on time.
  • Briefing the sales team on the marketing activities and promotions and harmonising BTL & ATL activities.
  • Analyze the performance of promotions vis-a-vis set objectives.
  • Develop promotional campaigns that will help grow the brand sales / market share
Public Relations 
  • Ensure that the brand maintains a good image/relationship with stakeholders while at the same time not affecting the corporate brand.
  • Organize Press conferences in liaison with the PR agency and/or Event organizer.
  • Ensuring that the brand maintains quarterly brand visibility in the media.
  • Ensuring that brand and corporate give a ways and information such as leaflets, brochures etc do not conflict.
  • Understanding the corporate communication strategy and stepping in for the top management where necessary due to the nature of your brand
Advertising 
  • Ensuring that the brand remains relevant and keeps interacting with consumers through various mediums and maintaining a good SOV.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of both your brand and competitor campaigns.
  • Working closely with the advertising agencies to ensure delivery of effective advertising and marketing programmes.
  • Analysing the KARF audience research and ensuring that media planning is in line with the current media habits
  • Ensuring that our brand communication is adopted to the various markets where we sell
Internal Communication 
  • Communicate major brand events to staff and encourage them to participate
  • Informing internal staff of various brand promotions and brand positioning changes
Marketing Information System 
  • Ensure that the Company maintains a good Marketing Information System that will enable you to develop relevant brand strategies in line with the market trends.
  • Monitoring performance of the brand and its various products and advising management accordingly
Education & Experience: 

The ideal candidate will have:
  • A University degree in Commerce, Marketing or related field
  • A Post graduate Diploma in Marketing from CIM
  • 3 –5 years relevant experience
  • Good experience in Brand management, Marketing, advertising and activations
