African Union Kwame Nkrumah Scientific Awards - 2011

The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology invites applications from outstanding Kenyan scientists to this year’s African Union Kwame Nkrumah Scientific Awards Competition.

Eligible applicants are expected to have attained exceptional achievements in scientific research, new scientific discoveries and scientific accomplishments.

The Awards will be in the following scientific sectors:

a) Life and Earth Sciences; and

b) Basic Science, Technology and Innovation

This call for applications is seeking entries for this year’s (2011) edition as follows:

a) The African Union Women Scientist Regional Award worth USD20, 000 per sector

b) African Union Scientific Award worth USD 100, 000 per sector.

Requirements for Eligibility of Contesters
  • The competition is open to Kenyan citizens onIy.
  • The innovator should be an individual.
  • The African Union Women Scientist Regional Award targets excelling women scientists.
  • African Union Scientific Award targets outstanding African scientists.
  • Patentable innovations are encouraged.
  • Inventions clearly identified as serving military purposes are not eligible for the awards.

Candidates are requested to carefully read the Rules of Procedure provided in the website and strictly adhere to the application submission deadlines.
