Senior Finance Officer Job Vacancy

Job Summary

Reporting to the MD, the incumbent will be in charge of the Finance function at the company and will be responsible for all financial and fiscal management aspects of company operations.

Key Roles & Responsibilities
  • Prepare, update and implement financial policies and strategic plans within the framework of the company’s overall strategic plan and provide guidance in the company’s financial and capital plan
  • Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.

  • Advice the MD on all financial matters and guide the Heads of Department in the preparation of budgets
  • Design and implement systems and controls for monitoring and managing financial processes and procedures
  • Analyze and forecast critical financial performance indicators such as cash flow, cost controls and actual figures against budgets / targets. Convey these analyses to the MD and recommend on corrective actions where needed
  • Oversee the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities for the company.
  • Oversee the prompt preparation of monthly management accounts.
  • Mentor and build the capacity of staff in the department and identify training needs
  • Ensure that annual statutory accounts are prepared in accordance with relevant regulations and international standards and are completed within set timelines; interact with external auditors, and third parties, including statutory organizations to ensure that the company meets its statutory obligations;
  • Ensure that both the Company and the Company companies have ERP systems, templates and performance measures sufficient to provide timely and accurate management accounts and to allow the business to accurately monitor performance on a continual basis.
  • Analyze and review aged accounts, accounts receivable and make recommendations for improvement
  • Develop and implement finance, accounting, billing, and auditing procedures.
  • Ensure records systems are maintained in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Competencies and Experience
  • A Bachelors degree in Finance or Commerce with an Accounting Option
  • Be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant
  • A minimum of 3 years postgraduate relevant experience with financial management experience
  • Experience of implementing and using advanced management information / ERP systems and producing detailed KPI reporting for stakeholders).
  • Must show strong financial acumen, drive, strategic vision, inspirational leadership qualities, and proven capacity to manage multi-discipline teams
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good leadership skills and a team player with proven track record of integrity
  • Knowledge/understanding of computer packages and computerized accounting systems
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
  • Ability to monitor cash flows and trends.
  • Expert negotiation skills, persuasiveness and the ability to influence people positively
  • Analytical skills and ability to identify areas of development to recommend and implement systems, policies & procedures to ensure optimization of the procurement function
