Head of Strategy and Business Development Job in Kenya

Our client is a fast growing player in the Construction and Engineering sector and is currently exploring new opportunities in the Real Estate and Telecommunication sectors.
The organization is looking to fill the position of a Head of Strategy and Business Development.
The successful candidate will be responsible for formulating and implementing the strategic plan aimed at growing the business to achieve set objectives and drive the business growth and expansion strategy.
S/he will also be responsible for the business development arm including delivering business sales targets.
Specific duties will include:
·         Lead the development and implementation of the business development and marketing strategies;
·         Lead overall market analysis and specific financial analysis of potential strategic options that will include identifying the opportunities that are available to the group and the challenges and risks that the group will have to overcome in order to achieve its objectives;
·         Initiate and coordinate action plans to penetrate new markets and launch new and innovative products/services to meet ever growing and changing customer needs;
·         Work with the Business Development teams to identify and segment the target markets for the group, identify construction best practices in the region and ensure that appropriate products/services are developed for each of these segments;
·         Manage competitive intelligence and industry research projects that will help to guide the directors, the marketing strategy, customer service improvement and the company’s public relations;
·         Support and facilitate development and implementation of annual budgets for the department.
·         Participate in the development and implementation of an incentive scheme to attract reward and retain the best business development force;
·         Design and coordinate an integrated marketing & communications strategy to sustain the company brand;
·         Provide monthly and quarterly reports on sales and marketing performance against budgets, competition and market conditions;
·         Develop and maintain profitable relationships with current and potential clients that support business growth that will include identifying unmet customer needs and putting measures in place to meet these needs;
·         Set performance standards, manage, and motivate the sales team to achieve high productivity;
·         Conduct marketing training needs assessments; develop internal and external training programs to fill the training gaps.
Requirements
·         A Bachelors degree in Marketing or any other business related degree.
·         Masters Degree in Business Administration.
·         Minimum of 12 years relevant experience in marketing, strategic management, entrepreneurship and business development with at least 7 years in managerial position.
·         Knowledge and experience in performance management systems e.g. Balanced Score Card will be an added advantage.
·         Be registered with the professional bodies such Marketing Society of Kenya (MSK) or Chartered Institutes of Marketers (CIM) or any other recognized bodies.
·         Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills with the ability to deal effectively at all levels.
·         Demonstrable ability to understand customers’ business requirements, deal with complex projects and put together holistic solutions.
