Medical Underwriting Assistant

Job Overview
 

The Medical Underwriting Assistant reports to the Assistant Manager-Underwriting (Medical) and will ensure that the Medical department fulfils its obligations of assuming insurable risks of its customers.

The role involves assessing the eligibility of applicants to obtain medical cover and scheme administration for those already on medical cover.

Duties include:-
  • Underwriting of Risks
  • Policy Documentation
  • Debiting
  • Communicating with agents/brokers or clients
  • Other duties assigned by Head of Department
Qualification and Skills
  • Graduate degree /any ACII or Local Diploma credits will be an added advantage
  • At least 3 years experience in the insurance industry (preferably in Medical Department)
  • Technical competence in underwriting Medical insurance risks
  • Ability to analyse and interpret statistics and statistical data
  • Computer proficiency in Ms Office
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written
Underwriting Assistant

Job Overview
 

Reporting to the Senior Underwriting Manager, the Underwriting Assistant will assist in ensuring that Mercantile fulfils its obligations of assuming insurable risks of its customers.

Accountabilities
  • Issue policy documents of all classes of general business, print motor certificates and cover notes and generate quotations.
  • Maintain communication with agents, brokers, and other clients
  • Generate renewal notices for all renewal business and direct involvement in business follow up for existing clients.
  • Maintain good customer and public relations and enhance quality service delivery
  • Any other business assigned by head of department
Qualification and Skills
  • Graduate degree / any Credits in ACII (Associate of Chartered Insurance Institute of London) or local Diploma will be an added advantage
  • At least 2 years experience in the insurance sector
  • Technical competence in Underwriting all classes of General business
  • Basic MS office skills
  • Possess strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
  • Self driven individual with impeccable integrity
