Job Identification: Ops Manager - International Safari Sales

Overall Purpose of the Job:

To ensure smooth running of all safaris, by running an efficient operations team.

To ensure the company has the best rates from its suppliers, and has complete information regarding the services available.

Reporting:

Ops Manager will report to the General Manager, and the Directors.

Duties of the job:

Management of the Operations department:
  • Including management of suppliers, rates, booking admin and logistics.
Management of the touring software:
  • Including accuracy of the database, monitoring reports and software systems management.
Staff relations:
  • Develop a teamwork based cooperative spirit amongst the staff.
  • Contribute to the effectiveness and success of the senior management team.
  • Working with the General Manager to co-ordinate staff incentives and targets, work teams, rosters etc. Make recommendations on recruiting and firing personnel in the department.
Job requirements:
  • Formal education and professional qualifications
  • Minimum 5 yrs experience in a well known/reputable tourism, travel agent or tour operating company, with good general knowledge of East Africa and the safari business.
  • Competency in maths / accounting, clear organizational skills.
  • Computer competency, and will be required to learn the management software.
Creativity and judgment in decision-making:
  • Initiates discussion on operations and management systems; and implements operational and management system improvements.
  • Needs to make logistic decisions.
  • Makes decisions on expenditure, pricing, viability, sourcing.
Job Location:

The job is an office job based in Nairobi, working with a dynamic team of 15 – 20.
