Through financial support from the Government of Sweden, Pact Kenya is implementing a four-year programme for Non-state Actors in Natural Resources Management in Kenya.

The programme targets support to projects in the areas of environment and climate change, agriculture and food security, water resources management and land use management. It aims at working with Civil Society Organisations to improve their capacity to influence how our country’s natural resources are managed.

We want to find new ways of getting those on the edge of our society more involved in this critical area and influence the policy and legislative frameworks for sustainability of natural resources and improvement of livelihoods.

This is an exciting initiative that has the potential to have an impact on millions of Kenyans and seeks to strengthen capacities of Civil Society Organizations working in Natural Resources.

We are therefore seeking competent and passionate individuals for the following positions to support the effective implementation of the Non-State Actors in Natural Resources Management programme:

Finance Officer (PK/FO/2011)

Department: Admin

Location: Nairobi, Dagorreti Corner

Job Description: 

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Finance Officer will be based in Nairobi and will primarily be responsible for the assessment, monitoring, planning and managing the efficient utilization of cash and financial services in a manner consistent with the objectives of Pact Kenya and in compliance with all donor regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Specifically, the Finance Officer- treasury management will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Prepare and monitor various cash flow forecasts and perform financial modeling
  • Forecast daily cash requirements and execute daily financing decisions
  • Maintain adequate cash levels to support Pact Kenya’s business operations
  • Monitor and report on working capital levels and ensure changing trends in levels are identified and reported to management
  • Provide regular cash management reports including bank reconciliations
  • Develop foreign exchange policies and procedures, plan and execute foreign exchange strategies to monitor and manage Pact Kenya foreign exchange related risks
  • Develop, understand and manage appropriate accounting procedures and processes relating to treasury to optimize efficiency and effectiveness
  • Manage long-term and short-term investment strategies
  • Enforce legal and regulatory requirements in relation to treasury management
  • Assess treasury performance benchmarks and recommend changes when warranted
  • Manage relationships with banks and other financial service providers
  • Monitor the banks service fees and address quality issues
  • Manage, direct, and develop staff within treasury
  • Any other additional duties as may be directed by supervisor from time to time.
Preferred Skills: 

The minimum required academic, professional qualifications, skills and experiences for the jobholder to perform successfully in their job are:
  • Bachelors of Commerce degree in accounting and or finance.
  • Must have attained up to CPA 11 level
  • 6 years functional experience in Finance and accounting, 3 years of which must be in treasury management.
  • Experience in preparing cash forecasts and cash flow analyses
  • Experience in building financial models to evaluate various financial plans
  • Knowledge of treasury software expertise will be an added advantage
  • Able to work productively in an environment of competing priorities
  • Highly proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access, Power-point and the use of Internet for research
  • Ability to develop rapport with diverse groups
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
