Broad Function

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for ensuring consistent and cost effective electrical servicing of machines and equipment in the company.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, co-ordinate and control electrical installations, machine servicing and repairs.
  • Oversee preventive and periodic maintenance of plant and facilities.
  • Ensure training of Machine Operators and other affected staff on correct electrical handling of machines in order to achieve high levels of efficiency.
  • Maintain records on machines and other electrical applications within the company and monitor their performance and take corrective action accordingly.
  • Maintain records related to cost and items used in electrical installations and servicing and ensure that they are efficiently used.
  • Oversee electrical repairs of plant and other office facilities
  • Coordinate trouble shooting for suspected electrical malfunctioning of machinery and equipment in the organization.
  • Raise orders for spares and other required electrical items.
  • Record and maintain the electricity consumption rates by the company and advise the Head of Maintenance accordingly.
  • Advise the company on health and safety issues relating to use of electricity and electrical appliances.
Person Specifications

Academic Qualifications
  • BSc. degree in Electrical and Electronics engineering, or BSc. in Mechatronics Engineering or BSc in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Professional Qualifications
  • Registered Engineer- Added advantage
Experience
  • At least three years working experience in electrical field two of which must be at in a busy manufacturing organization
Skills
  • Technical knowledge of electrical engineering, production machinery and PLC’s
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with standard office computer applications
