UN Job Vacancy - Team Leader UNDP Kenya

UNDP Kenya seeks to recruit a Team Leader (NOC) for its Peace Building and Conflict Prevention Unit.

Background

Under the guidance and supervision of the Deputy Country Director Programme (DCD-P), the Team Leader acts as an advisor to Senior Management on all aspects of the Peace Building and Conflict Prevention (PB/CP) Programme and manages the programme portfolio.

The Team Leader heads and supervises the Programme team and works in close collaboration with the Senior Peace and Development Advisor, other team leaders, the Operations team, programme staff in other UN Agencies, UNDP HQs staff and Government officials, technical advisors and experts, multi-lateral and bi-lateral donors and civil society to successfully implement the Peace Building and Conflict Prevention Programme.

Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, Political Sciences, Social Sciences or related field.
Experience
  • 5 years of relevant experience at the national or international level in providing management advisory services.
  • Hands-on experience in design, monitoring and evaluation of development projects and establishing inter-relationships among international organization and national governments.
  • Experience in conflict prevention and management, as well as negotiation mechanisms.
  • Experience in facilitating national dialogues and peace building processes, consensus-building and collaborative decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct appropriate analyses, needs assessments and project formulation on peace building issues taking into account the local culture.
  • Ability to draft and edit analytical reports, strategy documents, project proposals, correspondence, briefings and speeches.
  • Sound knowledge of the UN System, practices and procedures would be an added advantage.
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages, experience in handling of web based management system.
