Operational Buyer Job in Kenya

Job Summary
Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Operational Buyer will be responsible for managing all administration involved with the procurement of Services & Indirect materials; he/she will liaise with the relevant strategic buyers at the regional Head Office for contracting, pricing or RFQ.
Responsibilities
·         Ensure timely delivery of goods and services to the internal users in the desired quantity and quality together with the accompanying documentation.

·         Convert the Purchase request into purchase orders.
·         Ensure that Procurement and accounting data is of the required quality in the Purchase Order.
·         Ensure strict adherence to the Procurement rules and procedures.
·         Apply and implement strategic policies established by the Strategic Buyer.
·         Monitor transport issues linked to the material order.
·         Transmit purchase orders to external vendors.
·         Ensure timely confirmation of purchase orders (when required).
·         Monitor timely receipt of blocked invoices.
·         Establish and maintain good communication with vendors.
·         Monitor the balance to deliver and the comparison of the GR (Good Receipt)/IR (Invoice Receipt).
·         Resolve any operational issues with external vendors.
·         Maintain a close working collaboration with Strategic Buyers.
Requirements
·         Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Supply or a related field from a reputable university.
·         Diploma in purchasing and supplies management is an added advantage.
·         At least 2-3 years working experience as a buyer.
·         Good negotiation/persuasion and communication skills with clarity in spoken and written words.
·         Ability to make objective, fact based decisions.
·         Good achievements focus i.e. high energy levels and commitment to end results.
·         Ability to work under pressure.
·         A team player with sound analytical skills.
·         Well developed computer skills.
