MSH would like to invite suitably qualified and experienced candidates to join its team on a new 5 year CSO Institutional Strengthening project.


This project will strengthen the technical and institutional capacity of CSOs to enable them to deliver quality health and related social services through strengthened health systems.

This project will also strengthen the national level Kenyan NGOs, CSOs and / or CSO networks to provide national level advocacy for inclusion of CSOs in policy making and strategy development for increased health service delivery to the communities.

The project is expected to operate primarily at the national level with appropriate linkages to the district and community levels as part of the overall Implementation Framework for the Health Sector.

These positions are subject to project award.

Chief of Party (COP)

The COP is responsible for the leadership and management of this project in Kenya. He / She will serve as the primary project liaison of MSH to the donor and Government.

He / She will also ensure the achievement of results and accountability whilst leading the delivery of technical assistance to meet all projects objectives.

He / She will possess a minimum of 10 years senior-level experience designing, implementing, and managing large, complex, CSO Institutional Strengthening programs in Kenya or in the region. Previous Chief of Party/ Project Director level experience especially for USAID funded programs is required.

Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) / Senior Technical Advisor (STA)

The DCOP/ STA work in close collaboration with the COP and serves as a member of the Project Management Team. He / She designs and oversees all technical capacity building aspects of the project and works with the COP, M&E staff and Organizational Development Technical Advisors to track the progress of performance-based arrangements for sub grantees.

Advanced degree in public health or another relevant technical area. At least ten (10) years of experience designing, implementing and managing health programs in Kenya with substantial knowledge and experience in Kenya building capacity for NGOs and CSOs. Experience with USAID and PEPFAR donor projects desired.

Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Director

The M&E Director is responsible for leading the development and implementation of a plan to monitor progress, evaluate effectiveness, and disseminate results of both CSO and Project activities and innovations.

Masters degree in public health, demography, epidemiology, health administration, program evaluation or equivalent. Minimum 5 years experience in monitoring and evaluation of USG – funded health and/or HIV/AIDS programs, including the use of data to inform decision making, planning, resource allocation and other strategic initiatives.

Director; Finance, Grants and Administration

The Director of Finance, Grants & Administration is responsible for overseeing the administrative and financial management and accountability requirements of the project including providing grants to national-level CSOs.

Masters Degree in Business Administration / Management or equivalent relevant experience. Extensive experience with USAID contracting, including performance-based contracts essential. 10 or more years experience in finance, grants and administrative management of country specific programs focused on Institutional Strengthening.

Strong understanding of USAID Grant and Contracts policies and regulations required.
