Tax Accountant Job Vacancy – Oil Company

Summary: Our client is a leading international oil company; it has been in operation for over 25 years and is seeking to recruit a Tax Accountant, Kenya Office.
Key Responsibilities
·         Update the Management on existing and on new Tax regulations.
·         Act as the company’s main contact with the KRA.
·         Prepare and submit returns: WHT, VAT, PAYE, and Corporate Income Tax.
·         Follow up on all tax returns as necessary
·         Ensure appropriate tax payments are made on a timely manner.
·         Obtain tax remission, exemptions and refunds for VAT, Customs duty and any other applicable taxes as appropriate.

·         Ensure correct procedures and documentation is submitted for importation and exporting of products and equipment.
·         Liaise with clearing agents and KRA on importation and exportation of products.
·         Follow up and clear import and transit entries.
·         Prepare all Tax reconciliations.
·         Ensure adherence to KRA Tax Regulations and requirements.
·         Manage external audits for both KRA and financial statement audits.
·         Where necessary integrate and assist the accounting function in carrying out its accounting functions.
·         Other ad-hoc projects that may be required from time to time.
Qualification and experience
·         A University Degree in Business or Law and/or ACCA/CPA qualifications.
·         At least 3 years working experience in Tax environment
·         Thorough knowledge of Taxation Laws and of Tax processing systems.
·         In-depth knowledge of Customs and Excise Tax, VAT, Income Tax, Payroll taxes and East Africa Community Customs Management Acts.
·         Proactive forward-thinking on analysing Tax Laws and Tax changes, and their effects on the organisation.
·         Ability to research concepts and Tax applications effectively.
·         Ability to advise organisation of Tax effects of all initiatives and projects.
·         Ability to handle Corporate Tax issues, deferred tax, wear and tear computations.
·         Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and the ability to generate documentation of a high standard
·         Good presentation skills.
·         Confidentiality and high integrity.
·         Able to work with minimum supervision.
·         Excellent communication skills at all levels, both internally and externally.
·         Proficiency in accounting.
