Procurement Associate, Supply Coordinator and Java Developer Jobs in Kenya

The Supply Chain Management Systems (SCMS) project is part of the Presidents Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief.

The goal of this contract is to establish and operate safe, secure, reliable and sustainable supply chain management systems to procure pharmaceuticals and other products needed to provide care and treatment of persons with HIV/AIDS and related infections.

SCMS offers services in focus countries identified by the Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator and USAID, with SCMS field offices established in selected countries as required by the scope of work in the country.


The partnership is seeking to recruit for the following positions in Kenya;

Procurement Associate

The Procurement Associate assists the Procurement Specialist in-country to ensure the smooth operation of procurement activities.

He / She is primarily responsible for expediting all procurement requests through daily operations of the inquiry management process and executing the firm price requests under the supervision of the Procurement Specialist. The incumbent also supports client management through the routine exchange of client needs in coordination with SCMS procedures and expectations.

He / She works collaboratively with the Field Office Managed Procurement (FOMP) Unit, Project Management Office (PMO) procurement staff and others within SCMS.

Applicants will possess a minimum of a graduate degree or other relevant professional qualification in procurement, with at least three years work experience in procurement, preferably in a developing country context. Knowledge of USAID procurement rules and regulations is required. The ideal candidate will be self driven with excellent interpersonal skills.

Supply / Deliver Coordinator

The Supply/Deliver Coordinator will monitor order processing to ensure compliance with the fulfilment plan. He / She will consolidate orders with manufacturers and suppliers for pick- up and delivery to Regional Distribution Centres.

The Supply/Deliver Coordinator will check supplier and manufacturers export documentation to ensure that commodities meet country requirements for customs clearance and in country regulatory requirements. He / She will also assist in development of the SCMS procurement management database to effectively support the work of the procurement team.

The incumbent will be expected to keep up to date on packaging and shipping requirements for each country and keep procurement and freight forwarding teams informed of trends and requirements.

Applicants will possess a Bachelors Degree in a relevant field with Post Graduate certification in Supply Chain. Candidates with a minimum of three (3) years in roles dealing with International Supply Chain and with prior work experience within a USAID / USG contracting environment will have a distinct advantage.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent analytical, planning, management and communication skills as well as be as strong team player with interpersonal, facilitation, relationship-building, negotiating and influencing skills.

Java / J2EE Developer

The Center for Pharmaceutical Management (CPM) of MSH would like to invite suitably qualified and experienced candidates to join its team in various locations including West Africa, Kenya, Ethiopia and South Africa in the following position; Java/J2EE Developer.

The successful candidate will join on as a critical member of the Software Tools team. The Java/J2EE Developer will be an integral part of each phase of the software development lifecycle including design, development, deployment and maintenance, using current web technologies of the Pharmadex product and other CPM software products.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of hands on software development experience with the following tools/technologies; Java, J2EE, JBOSS, Hibernate and Oracle PL/SQL. Candidate should also have experience working on small teams, being responsible for different tasks as needed, including but not limited to; requirements gathering, testing, support and development.

This position also requires candidates with strong analytical aptitude, and excellent communication. Experience in healthcare industry is preferred. Ability to speak French or Russian is desired. These positions require candidates with personal initiative and high integrity. Relocation and post allowances are not available.
