Nutrition Assistant 
Based in Marsabit, Isiolo and Maralal, Kenya
2 year contract
The mission of the Catholic Diocese’s of Marsabit, Isiolo and Maralal is to promote human development and social justice in witness to the Christian faith and Gospel values. In emergency situations, the three Dioceses’ provide immediate humanitarian relief to vulnerable communities.
In Kenya the Catholic Diocese’s of Marsabit, Isiolo and Maralal each have a position to hire 3 nutrition officers for 2 years who will be deployed in Marsabit, Isiolo and Maralal. The Nutrition Officers will be responsible for implementing nutrition activities within health facilities and among communities through management of acute malnutrition, nutrition education and surveillance within   communities and schools.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
The nutrition assistant will be responsible for implementing the nutrition project under the health department of the Catholic Diocese of Isiolo, Marsabit and Maralal.
The incumbent will train and supervise health staff and community volunteers in relation to nutrition activities and collect and analyse data.
S/he will also network and coordinate with the relevant sectors and agencies implementing nutrition activities at District and community level.
The nutrition officer will also be responsible to mobilize community activities during periods of need and develop/ maintain a referral system of malnourished children.
The nutrition officer will report to the Diocesan Health Coordinator at Diocese level and participate in nutrition survey/assessments carried out in the area in coordination with other departments (food security and livelihood, WASH and DRR).
Required Qualifications and Skills:
·         Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in food & nutrition, Public Health or equivalent.
·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office qualification.
·         NGO experience working with communities through community based management of acute malnutrition.
