Green Belt Movement Corporate Communications Officer Job in Kenya

The Green Belt Movement is one of the most prominent non -governmental organizations, based in Kenya, advocating for human rights and supporting good governance and peaceful democratic change through the protection of the environment.

Its mission is to empower communities worldwide to protect the environment and to promote good governance and cultures of peace.

The organization seeks to recruit in the following position:

Corporate Communications Officer 

Reporting to the Executive Director, the position is charged with the responsibility of managing the branding of the organisation through both internal processes and external services and relationships.

Overall Responsibilities:
  • Formulate the strategic and operational plans for communications, media relations and public relations.
  • Establish, review, evaluate and implement communication processes and protocols both internally and externally.
  • To identify, evaluate and ensure implementation of any initiatives aimed at enforcing Green Belt Movement image.
  • Oversee the production of Green Belt Movement newsletter by planning, mobilizing resources for and validating contents of the publications
  • Ensure that any forms of press releases are as per the Green Belt Movement policies and procedures and adequately represents the organization.
  • Maintain liaison with external and internal clients, assisting in commissioning and dissemination of publicity materials
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Founder or Executive Director from time to time.
Suitable candidates MUST have the following minimum qualifications:
  • A Bachelors degree in Public Relations/Communications/Journalism.
  • At least three years experience in Communications/Public Relations function
  • Experience with working with the NGO sector will be an added advantage.
