The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) is a State Corporation under the Ministry of Roads established by the Kenya Roads Act, 2007 with the core mandate of management, development, rehabilitation and maintenance of all public roads in the cities and municipalities in Kenya except where those roads are national roads.

Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Legal & Corporate Affairs, the Chief Legal Officer (Contracts) will efficiently manage all contract matters the Authority is involved in.
Key Responsibilities
·         Draft, peruse and vet all the Contracts and Agreements that the Authority will enter into with third parties.
·         Carry out contractual negotiations on behalf of the Authority.
·         Monitoring compliance on contractual and statutory obligations by parties.
·         Participating in formulation and review of legal Policies and procedures for the Authority.
Qualifications and Competencies
·         University graduate LLB degree.
·         An advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
·         Certified Public Secretary (CPS) (K) qualification is an added advantage.
·         A Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law
·         Holder of a current practising certificate.
·         Five (5) years relevant post qualification experience with at least three (3) years at a senior level in a busy working environment.
·         Must be competent, articulate and capable of dealing with complex litigation without supervision.
·         Excellent organization skills.
·         Able to work without supervision, meeting strict deadlines and coping with intense work pressure.
·         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
·         Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise judgment and make decisions to promote smooth workflow, which requires a strong overall knowledge of departmental operation.
