The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) is a State Corporation under the Ministry of Roads established by the Kenya Roads Act, 2007 with the core mandate of management, development, rehabilitation and maintenance of all public roads in the cities and municipalities in Kenya except where those roads are national roads.

The successful candidate will report to the Director General.
Job Summary
The job holder will be responsible for the Authority strategies aimed at promoting and enhancing its image.
Key responsibilities
·         Develop and implement communications and media strategies, promotional materials such as banners, brochures etc.
·         Develop programmed video documentaries and manage corporate branding.
·         Manage national and international media relations and events.
·         Prepare press releases, media adverts, supplements, programme documentation, coordinate proactive and reactive media tours and organize press conferences, coordinate media interviews for staff, write position papers and act as organization contact person to the media.
·         Directing KURA’s publicity programmes to the various publics.
·         Draft speeches, news releases and any other presentation as required.
·         Maintaining the Authority’s website and ensuring that it is updated and remains relevant for purposes of information dissemination.
·         Gathering information, writing articles and editing newsletters, reports, journals and other publicity materials.
Qualifications and Competencies
·         Degree in Public Relations, Communications or other related field.
·         A Master’s degree in a relevant field is an added advantage.
·         Ability to grasp complex technical and business concepts and express them in clear language, be flexible and open to changing priorities of the Authority and be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with compressed time frames.
·         Proficiency in ICT.
·         At least Five (5) years relevant working experience and three (3) years at a senior management level in an organization serving a large and demanding public.
·         Must have good interpersonal and customer relation skills.
·         Be a Member of a recognized and relevant Professional Body i.e. Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK).
·         Excellent written and verbal skills both in English and Kiswahili.
·         Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with the media, government officials, employees, donors and the general public.
