Our client, Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a leading conservancy organization in Laikipia County – Kenya.
They wish to identify a suitable candidate for the position ofSecurity Officer.
Job Profile
Reporting to the Chief Conservation Officer and working closely with the Wildlife Administration Officer, the Security Officer will be responsible for the security operations of the Conservancy, with emphasis on wildlife especially rhino, its employees and clients by performing the following duties:-

·         Ensuring full implementation and enforcement of approved security systems and procedures that provide a safe and secure environment for business within the Conservancy and its surroundings.
·         Conducting thorough and comprehensive investigations relating to security incidents, manage scenes of crime and liaise with law enforcement agents and other security service providers.
·         In collaboration with the Chief Conservation Officer, liaising with law enforcement agencies in the region to ensure effective execution of security matters for the Conservancy and ensuring that any lapse is promptly attended to within the shortest time possible.
·         Providing guidance on ‘best practice’ security standards and solutions and maintain a secure environment for wildlife and property of the Conservancy.
·         Assessing the physical state of all Conservancy premises, gates, installations and the neighboring environment to ensure that they are adequately secured and determine the type and extent of physical security controls necessary for each area.
·         Ensuring periodic surveys of all installations and facilities on the conservancy are conducted.
·         Assisting in developing and maintaining accurate records and reports system.
·         Carry out regular security/safety drills and awareness training for staff.
Person Profile
·         Preferably university degree in a social science discipline from a recognized institution.
·         Possession of Diploma in wildlife security management or criminology from a recognized institution.
·         Minimum 10 years experience in security operations either from the police, wildlife sector or Military forces.
·         Must be conversant with different types, usage and maintenance of firearms.
·         Should be conversant with wildlife conservation and management Act 1989.
·         A good understanding of criminal law will be an added advantage.
·         Experience in corporate security management.
·         Knowledge and understanding of health and safety regulations will be an added advantage.
·         Excellent briefing and report writing skills and computer skills are mandatory.
·         Must have a valid driving license.
