Jhpiego, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University, is an international NGO supporting health programs to improve the health of women and their families.

Jhpiego-Kenya works in close collaboration with both the Ministry of Medical Services and the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation in the areas of HIV, Malaria, TB, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, Reproductive Health and Family Planning.

We are currently recruiting experienced individuals with excellent technical skills, who are team players, dedicated, hard working, innovative, highly motivated and able to work in a high pressure environment requiring multi-tasking abilities.

Technical Advisor - Male Circumcision (1 Position)

and

Technical Advisor - HIV Testing and Counseling (1 Position)

Jhpiego is a partner in the APHIAplus Zone 1 (Western & Nyanza) project within a consortium led by Program for Appropriate Technology in Health (PATH). APHIAplus project is working closely with the Government of Kenya and a wide variety of partners to strengthen health care services throughout these provinces.

The Technical Advisor, Male Circumcision (MC) and Technical Advisor HIV Testing and Counseling (HTC) are to be based in Kisumu. They will spend significant time working throughout the Zone 1 region to support improved access to quality MC and HTC services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership to the APHIAplus Zone 1 Project for all MC/HTC activities
  • Supervise all MC/HTC activities for the project and coordinate implementation of MC/HTC services within project areas and Participate in all technical working group meetings.
  • Ensure integration between HIV and other clinical areas, as well as non-health areas
  • Provide mentorship and supportive supervision of health care workers in MC/HTC, with a focus on quality assurance / quality improvement
  • Strengthen linkages between facilities service delivery and community
  • Participate in preparation of budgets, work plans, reports and other technical papers
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and/or annual reports
  • Assist in program monitoring and evaluation
  • Liaise with the Ministries of Health officials
Qualifications and Requirements
  • A graduate degree in medicine. A degree in public health will be an added advantage
  • At least 5 years experience in implementing HIV and or Reproductive Health service delivery programs.
  • MC experience is a must for the Advisor, MC position.
  • A demonstrated track record of providing mentorship and supervision for strengthening healthcare services, in MC or HTC respectively and training in quality improvement approaches
  • Experience working with MOH personnel and good knowledge of health systems and programs
  • Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills to facilitate program implementation
  • Excellent analytical, communication and report writing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with efficiency and diplomacy, as part of a team effort
  • Computer literacy, particularly in the use of MS office.
Technical Officers, RH/FP/MNCH
(2 Positions in Western Province)

Technical Officers will spend significant time working within his/her defined geographic area to support health facility staff and communities to improve access to quality reproductive health family planning and maternal and child health services.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate implementation of RH/FP and Maternal Child Health (MCH)services within designated regions of Western Province
  • Ensure RH/FP/MCH clinical services are integrated with other health and non health activities
  • Provide mentorship and supportive supervision of health care workers in RH /FP/MCH, with a focus on quality assurance / quality improvement
  • Strengthen linkages between facilities service delivery and community
  • Participate in preparation of budgets, work plans, reports and other technical papers
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and/or annual reports
  • Assist in program monitoring and evaluation
  • Liaise with the Ministries of Health officials
Requirements:
  • Clinical Officer or Registered Nurse
  • Possess strong clinical and training skills, particularly in the areas of RH/FP /MCH
  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible work experience, particularly in the areas of RH/FP/MCH
  • Experience working with MOH personnel and good knowledge of health systems and programs
  • A demonstrated track record of providing mentorship and supervision for strengthening healthcare services; training in quality improvement approaches
  • Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills to facilitate program implementation
  • Excellent analytical, communication and report writing skills
  • Computer literacy, particularly in the use of MS office.
To strengthen ICT support to our Nairobi office and APHIAplus project team in Central and Eastern province, we are seeking qualified persons to fill the following ICT Officer positions.

ICT Officer-Servers and Network

Reporting to the ICT Advisor, the ICT Officer-Servers and Network will be responsible for the effective running of the servers and networks at Jhpiego Kenya’s offices.

Responsibilities
  • Setup, configuration, monitoring and management of server hardware and applications, network equipment and services, Internet and VPN links, and UPSes and other power backup systems
  • Diagnosis and resolution of service requests reported by the ICT User Support team
  • Escalation of service requests and follow up as necessary
  • Maintenance of system and configuration change documentation
Qualifications
  • Minimum of Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) certifications for Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure Configuration and Windows Server 2008 Applications Infrastructure Configuration
  • Minimum Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification
  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience
  • Experience with server hardware from major vendors
  • Experience with server operating systems and client/server based application software, including awareness of version limitations
  • Experience with VMware virtualisation platform
ICT Officer-User Support and Client Systems
(2 positions)

Reporting to the ICT Advisor, the ICT Officers will be responsible for client systems (desktops, laptops and phones), user support and on-the-job training at their assigned offices.

Responsibilities
  • Set up, configuration and management of desktops, laptops, printers and phone handsets
  • Installation and maintenance of software on client systems
  • Maintenance of system and configuration change documentation
  • Provision of Level 1 user support (diagnosis and resolution of basic desktop/laptop, printer, peripheral and software faults)
  • Escalation of service requests and follow up as necessary
  • Following instructions to run basic network monitoring reports or utilities
  • Performance of basic diagnostic and recovery routines on network equipment
  • Identification of routine desktop and application support issues and provision of training for staff as required
  • Maintenance of ICT User Guide
  • Ensuring user compliance with ICT policies and guidelines
Qualifications
  • Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST)
  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience in a similar capacity
  • Confident user of Windows client operating systems and common desktop applications (Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, etc)
  • Understanding of client/server based applications
  • Understanding of the basic principles of structured network cabling and the practicalities of connecting network devices
  • Knowledge and experience in supporting an Avaya IP Office telephone system will be an added advantage
  • Attention to details, analytical thinking, good communication skills and self organized
