Lutheran World Federation / Department for World Service Kenya Program is seeking to recruit Kenyan nationals for the following position, to be based in Kakuma Refugee Camp.

Deputy Child Protection Officer

Reporting directly to the Child Protection Officer

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure that Unaccompanied/Separated/ orphaned children arriving in the camp are identified and successfully fostered
  • In liaison with other agencies facilitate reunification of unaccompanied/separated children with their relatives.

  • Assess and identify the psychosocial needs of children in the camp
  • Identify and resolve cases of emerging conflicts between children and their care givers, & develop training plans
  • Collaborate with other LWF sectors and implementing partners in order to ensure smooth coordination of efforts.
Person Specifications/Qualifications
  • Must have a degree in social sciences, Development studies, Developmental Psychology or related field.
  • Post graduate diploma in child care and development will be an advantage.
  • Training in child counseling skills is an added advantage
  • At least 2 years experience in child related areas in a humanitarian setting
  • Experience in proposal development, planning, implementing child focused projects.
  • Excellent leadership skills, Understanding of child protection laws and issues.
  • Experience in the use of computer packages
Deputy Gender Equity and Human Rights Officer

Reporting directly to the Gender Equity and Human Rights Officer

Duties and Responsibilities among others:
  • Collaborate with other staff in the planning, management and development of the unit.
  • Monitor and analyze emerging trends in the field of gender and human rights promotion
  • Supervise the production, acquisition, & distribution of sanitary wear.
  • Identify community training needs and organize relevant training.
  • Write timely and accurate unit reports
Qualifications:
  • Degree in gender and development studies, social sciences or related field.
  • Post graduate training in Gender and Human Rights.
  • At least 2 years experience in a humanitarian setting especially in handling GBV
  • Good understanding of protection instruments & computers/statistical packages.
Data Entry Clerk

Reporting directly to Assistant Gender Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities among others
  • Manage SGBV and Child Protection soft ware.
  • Manage documentation and resolution of SGBV cases.
  • Analyses SGBV trends and share the report.
  • Write timely and accurate statutory reports
Qualifications
  • A minimum of diploma in Information technology, computer studies
  • Good typing skills and speed.
  • Minimum experience of two years in data entry/software management.
  • Experience in Gender and child related issues.
  • Excellent record keeping and maintenance of an efficient filing system
Sanitation and Hygiene Technician

Reporting to the Project officer and Project Coordinator Turkana host project.

Duties and responsibilities among others:
  • Conducting field-based needs assessments & consolidate the information for planning and implementing future WASH project activities in Turkana West
  • Mobilizing and sensitizing communities to participate in WASH activities
  • Organizing/carrying out health education activities & training of WASH groups and clubs
  • Implement and monitor School WASH activities implemented by LWF
  • Participating in project Monitoring & Evaluation
  • Preparing and compiling various project reports weekly, monthly and other sector reports as may be required.
Qualifications
  • Diploma in Public Health/Environmental health or Equivalent
  • Three (3) years working experience in community based water and sanitation activities
  • Experiences in of VIP latrines and training in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene programs
  • Computer skills Microsoft office
  • Working experience in Turkana will be added advantage.
