Duties and Responsibilities
- Originating stories
- Preparing Press Releases
- Convening media for Events
- Convening round table meetings with key stakeholders
- Media monitoring
- Design and prepare a quarterly publication
- Oversee the design and production of promotional materials
- Oversee the weekly updates of the website
- Create partnerships and working relationships with media houses
- Oversee the production of documentaries
- Organize and manage KEC- Catholic Secretariat events, such as book launches, press conferences, exhibitions and opening ceremonies
- Develop and maintain the KEC-Catholic Secretariat’s corporate image and identity
- To plan , develop and implement PR strategies that position KEC – Catholic Secretariat accurately in light of its vision and mission
- To carry out internet research where needed for marketing campaigns
- To lead on and perform key Communications duties
- Liaise with media, individuals and other organizations, often through telephone and email
- To establish modern cutting edge methods to disseminate information, education and doctrinal formation to stakeholders
- Monitor Public Perception about the church , minimise reputation risk and countering misleading statements as well as identifying issues which may impact negatively on the church ‘s reputation and advising an appropriate approach
- To develop the use of the website, blogs and other interactive media for communication
- Analysis of field reports from commissions and develop write ups for newspapers , websites and donor reports
Qualifications
- Has a Degree in Communications or its equivalent. Specialization in Public Relations will be an added advantage.
- Excellent computer skills
- Able to communicate effectively and confidently
- Self motivated and able to work under own initiative
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy where necessary
- At least 5 years experience in journalism preferably in Politics and Current Affairs at a reputable print media house.
- Excellent written skills
- Good practical and organizational skills with the ability to effectively plan and prioritize a complex and competing workload under pressure and to work to tight deadlines
- Ability to make good judgments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Enhanced listening skills
- Work well under pressure
- MS Excel and MS Word skills

- Is a committed Catholic, with good recommendation from own Parish Priest
- Is a person of attested integrity, with high degree of stewardship of resources
