KEMRI Data Analyst Intern Career in Kenya

The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) in collaboration with the University of Washington is conducting a research study at multiple sites in Kenya.
As part of the international mission of the University of Washington to transfer technology and build capacity, a rotational fixed duration work/study (internship) position has been established in the research study and recruitment is currently underway.
This project invites application for the following position:
Data analyst Intern
Basic qualifications
At a minimum, the applicant should be an advanced student currently enrolled in a 2 or 4 year Statistics course. We are looking for a person who is interested in research and would like to further their skills in this area.
Specifically, the student should have basic training and proficiency in:
·         Statistical computing skills in at least one package such as STATA, SAS, S-Plus/R or SPSS
·         Microsoft Office
·         Basic programming.
·         Teamwork skills.
Experience in data cleaning is desirable but not essential
Duration
The internship will run for a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 4 months.
Remuneration
This position has a fixed monthly stipend of Ksh.5,000 per month for a time commitment of 25 hours per week (equivalent to 5 hours every day Monday to Friday).
Work Details
Working under the direct supervision of the DATA/IT Coordinator, the intern will carry out the following tasks, among others:
·         Data analysis
·         Data cleaning
·         Generating periodic reports as instructed
·         Data entry using online Data Entry  system
·         Ensures that confidentiality of data collected and stored are maintained
·         Attends required meetings and trainings and provides input to enhance the system
·         Keep record of work completed.
