Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Field Officer and the overall supervision of the Senior Operations Officer, the incumbent will perform the following duties.
·         Assist the Field Officer in undertaking regular needs assessment in accordance with UNHCR programming cycles; Weekly monitoring Implementing Partners activities;
·         Monitor the situation in the area of his/her competence, collect data and other information relevant to UNHCR and analyze and report to the Field Officer accordingly;
·         Monitor and supervise the implementation of UNHCR programme including the delivery of all assistance items and monitoring of infrastructure and make the necessary recommendation for its improvement;
·         Keep regular contacts with local authorities and implementing partners as requested by Field Officer;
·         Act as interpreter when required;
·         Contribute to the preparation of status and progress reports by providing information, preparing tables and take minutes of meetings, etc.;
·         Assist in administrative tasks as required such as preparation of reports and meeting authorized personnel and assisting them during their field missions;
·         Monitor refugee movements related to repatriation and other inter-camps transfers;
·         Analyze problems faced by refugees in transit camps in respect of repatriation;
·         Inform and act on the reports received on refugees within the refugee community or from the local authorities;
·         Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
Education and Skills:
·         Completion of secondary education
·         Post-secondary training/certificate in Business Administration, Law, Political Science or related field is an added advantage.
Desirable qualifications and competencies:
·         Computer skills
·         Communication skills
·         Writing skills
Experience:
·         6 years previous job experience relevant to the function.
Language:
·         Fluency in English and Kiswahili.  Knowledge of French and is an asset.
