Inoorero University Software and Applications Administrator Job in Kenya

Overall purpose of the job: This position is responsible for providing system-level support of multi-user operating systems, hardware and software tools and Identify alternatives for optimizing ICT resources.

  • Design and develop new software applications for respective users as may be required
  • Carry out feasibility study and analysing information technology systems as per the University requirement
  • Collect information to analyze and evaluate existing or proposed systems.
  • Research, plan, install, configure, troubleshoot, maintain and upgrade hardware and software interfaces with the operating system. Analyze and evaluate present or proposed business procedures or problems to define data processing needs.

  • Ensure post-implementation review of computer systems and organising in-house computer training for staff/management in liaison with training department
  • Participate in definition and designing of access security to the database through access rights on the data, modules and files
  • Evaluate software requirement and analysis of available equipment capacity
  • Select among authorized procedures and seek assistance when guidelines are inadequate, significant deviations are proposed, or when unanticipated problems arise.
  • Work as a team member with other technical staff, such as networking to ensure connectivity and compatibility between systems.
  • Write and maintain system documentation.
  • Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network.
  • Document system problems and resolutions for future reference.
  • Performing any other duty as may be assigned from time to time
Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications

Educational Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in computer science/IT
Professional Qualifications:
  • Relevant System Development and Database Administration Certifications
Working Experience:
  • At least 5 years experience in system development and database administration.
Technical Skills
  • Server 2003/2008 Administration
  • SQL 2005/2008 Administration
  • Linux/UNIX Administration
  • WMware Administration (Linux Based)
  • Moodle Administration and Support
  • Router/Catalyst switches Administration
  • Specialist in Computer and network security
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Integrity.
  • Planning and organizational skills.
  • Proactive, initiative and good networking skills.
