School of Business & Economics

Associate Professor in Management

Requirements;

  • PhD degree in Management with specialization in any of the following areas; Strategic Management, Human Resources Management, Organization Development and Cross- Cultural Management in a global society.
  • Must have published at least five articles in refereed journals or five chapters in academic books published by recognized publishers or one academic book or ten book reviews.
  • Must have least four (4) years teaching experience as a Senior Lecturer at University level
  • Must possess proven outstanding skills in teaching and research development.
  • Must possess experience in developing Academic programmes
  • The successful applicant will be expected to conduct research, publish and teach Management classes for both undergraduate and postgraduate students and provide leadership in his/her area of specialization.
Responsibilities;
  • The successful applicant will be expected to conduct research, publish and facilitate learning by guide and supervise thesis or projects at the postgraduate level.
  • The applicant should be able to teach any of the following; Strategic Management, Human Resources Management, Organization Development and Cross-Cultural Management in a global society.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate curricula
  • Investigate and recommend new programmes of interest to the relevant Department.
Senior Lecturer in Strategic Management

Requirements;
  • Ph.D. (or any other relevant Doctorate degree) with three years teaching experience as lecturer or relevant work experience,.
  • Demonstrated experience in any two of the following: research and publications (at least three articles in a refereed journal or two chapters in books published by recognized publishers)
  • Must have experience in curriculum development and thesis supervision
  • Must have made a demonstrable contribution in his or her field of expertise; community engagement.
  • Administrative experience, such as serving as on HOD or dean is an added advantage.
School of Communication and Performing Arts

Associate Professor in Communication

Requirements;
  • PhD degree in the field of Communication.
  • At least four (4) years experience as a senior lecturer or researcher at the University level.
  • The applicant should be able to teach any of the following: Media Studies, Development Communication, Corporate Communication, and Human Communication.
  • Applicants must have proven experience in developing academic programmes in their field of specialization.
  • Must have published at least five articles in refereed journals or five chapters in academic books published by recognized publishers or one academic book or ten book reviews.
  • Applicants must have proven experience in supervision of thesis and general research.
  • Those who have served as HOD or Dean with other responsibilities and have received positive evaluation from their supervisors will have an added advantage.
Responsibilities;
  • Will be expected to conduct research, publish and facilitate learning by guiding and supervising thesis or projects at the postgraduate level.
  • Should be able to teach a variety of courses in Communication.
  • Must be able to investigate and recommend new programmes of interest to the School.

Senior Lecturer in Development Communication

Requirements;
  • Ph. D. (or any other relevant Doctorate degree) with three years teaching experience as lecturer or relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in any two of the following: research and publications (at least three articles in refereed journals or two chapters in books published by recognized publishers.
  • Must have participated in curriculum development and thesis supervision

Senior Lecturer in Corporate Communication
(2 Positions)

Requirements;
  • Ph.D. (or any other relevant Doctorate) degree with three years teaching experience as lecturer or relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in any two of the following: research and publications (at least three articles in refereed journals or two chapters in books published by recognized publishers).
  • Must have participated in curriculum development and thesis supervision
  • Must have made a demonstrable contribution in his or her field of expertise through community engagement.
  • Having administrative experience, such as serving as an HOD or dean is an added advantage.
Senior Lecturer, Music (Choral or Instrumental Music)

Requirements;
  • Ph.D. (or Doctorate) with three years teaching experience as lecturer or relevant work experience, or in exceptional cases: Master’s degree with ten years teaching experience as lecturer or relevant practical work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in any two of the following: research and publications (at least three articles in refereed journals or two chapters in books published by recognized publishers), curriculum development and thesis supervision
  • Must have made a demonstrable contribution in his or her field of expertise; community engagement.
  • Administrative experience, such as serving as an HOD or dean is an added advantage.
  • Must show evidence of membership of professional bodies and of collaboration with other musicians.
  • Lecturer in Choral Music should ideally have experience in conducting or performance besides participation in Kenya Schools and Colleges National Music Festivals or similar competitions.
  • Lecturers in Instrumental Music must have experience in conducting or playing in a band or orchestra.
  • Must have ABRSM Grade 5 piano. Ability to play another instrument, African or Western is an added advantage. Shortlisted candidates will be given a sight-reading test and will be asked to play their additional instrument or give vocal performance at interview.
  • Candidates will be expected to have a strong grounding in Music theory and Western classical music in addition to African music and performance.
Responsibilities;

Successful candidates will be expected to:
  • teach relevant courses;
  • have a vision for the growth of the Music department;
  • coordinate and revamp all music activities in the university;
  • liaise with, invite and collaborate with guest performers and music lecturers from outside the university;
Senior Lecturer, English (Linguistics)

Requirements;
  • Ph.D. (or Doctorate) in Linguistics with three years teaching experience as lecturer or relevant work experience.
  • Experience in teaching English language.
  • Experience in any two of the following: research and publications (at least three articles in a refereed journals or two chapters in books published by recognized publishers), curriculum development and thesis supervision.
  • Must have made a demonstrable contribution in his or her field of expertise; community engagement.
  • Administrative experience, such as serving as an HOD or dean is an added advantage.
  • Membership of professional bodies is also an added advantage.

Senior Lecturer in Community Development

Requirements;
  • Ph. D. (or Doctorate) with three years teaching experience as lecturer or relevant work experience.

Lecturer in Philosophy

Requirements;
  • PhD in Philosophy or M.A in Religious Studies or Philosophy.
  • Ability to teach African and Western philosophy at 400 level.
  • Must have more than three (3) years teaching experience at University level.
  • Must have experience in curriculum development.
  • Must provide evidence of experience in setting and administering examinations.
School of Science, Engineering and Health

Senior Lecturer in Electronic Engineering

Requirements;
  • Holder of PhD in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or have a MSC in Electrical or Electronic Engineering with five (5) years teaching experience in an institution of higher learning.
  • Be able to teach a number of courses in Electronic Engineering.
  • Be a registered engineer with the Engineering Registration Board of Kenya
Responsibilities;

The successful candidate will have responsibility of;
  • overseeing the detailed development of the Electronic Engineering program;
  • establishing the budget for the startup;
  • overseeing the procurement of the relevant equipment and software;
  • establishing the laboratories;
  • identifying part time lecturers to teach in the program.
Lecturer in Computer Science

Requirements;
  • Applicant must have a Masters degree in Computer Studies/IT.
  • First Degree Must be in computer Science or have computing components.
  • Must have more than three (3) years teaching experience at University level.
  • Must show evidence of attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars or workshops.
  • Must show evidence of active participation in departmental activities and good quality teaching
NB: Successful candidates for all senior lecturer/ lecturer positions will be expected to:
  • teach relevant courses at postgraduate/undergraduate level;
  • set, moderate, assess and effectively manage university examinations;
  • participate in design and evaluation of curriculum;
  • conduct and implement academic research and publications
  • effectively manage and mentor students in the Programme.
Division of Planning Finance and Administration

Finance Manager

Requirements;
  • Must have a Bachelor of Commerce, Accounting option or related first degree.
  • Must have MBA in Finance and CPA (K) and be a member of ICPAK.
  • Over 10 years progressive experience in a senior related position with proven outstanding performance.
  • Must have clear and unquestionable commitment to integrity and a productive work ethics
  • Must have proven ability to manage staff in a team spirit and to keep deadlines
  • Must possess good interpersonal , communication, analytical and reporting skills;
  • Hands on skills in MS Office packages, with knowledge of relevant financial packages
Responsibilities;
  • Maintain sound cash management practices.
  • Review and manage internal control system.
  • Prepare budgets, forecasts and long-term plans.
  • Ensuring annual audit, stock taking and preparation of year-end accounts.
  • Advise management on all financial matters.
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for decision making.

Planning Manager

Requirements;
  • A minimum of a Masters degree with specialization in planning (preferably MA Economics).
  • Those with Bachelor of Commerce degree and Masters in Strategic Management with relevant work experience will be considered.
  • Any other related qualifications in the relevant area will be an added advantage.
  • At least five (.5) years relevant work experience at a senior position in a large organization preferably in an institution of higher learning.
  • Well versed in development/strategic planning, project implementation and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated experience and professional competence in improving organizational efficiency and performance.
  • Conversant with the relevant aspects of information technology.
Responsibilities;
  • Developing and implementing strategy for planning and development in line with the University’s vision and mission within agreed budget and time frame.
  • Provide leadership for the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the University’s strategic and ad-hoc plans.
  • Determining and advising the University on expansion needs in view of student population, physical infrastructure, manpower and budgetary considerations.
  • Co-ordination of budget preparation and adherence to approved level.
  • Ensuring that the budget for University is consistent with the strategic plan
  • Liaise with division/departmental heads on important budgetary issues.
  • Analysis of the key drivers of University’s performance.
  • Financial evaluation of trials and business plans.
  • Responsible for projections and forecasts of students population, staffing needs etc.
