Purpose of the position:

To Support the Regional WASH Advisor to provide the technical leadership and direction needed to successfully support timely and quality implementation of WASH interventions in East Africa through development of new project proposals and effective monitoring and documentation of EAR WASH program/ projects, as well as demonstrate a quality of spiritual and professional life that serves as an example to others.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Carry out effective monitoring and data analysis on EAR WASH programs/ projects (activity and budget)
  • Compile EAR WASH progress reports and write technical papers for consumption at Regional, NO level, Workshops and submission to partners, including donors.
  • Document lessons from Learning Labs and other sources for dissemination within and outside EAR.
  • Support the consolidation of a business minded culture of project implementation- based upon evidenced based best practices and industry standards - to enable regional countries to achieve and/or surpass established targets and standards.
  • Participate in EAR WASH sector research (including internet research) and documentation towards acquiring information and lessons/ best practices
  • Provide effective guidance to WASH staff within the region in collaboration with other departments e.g., P&C, Ministry Quality and finance
  • Any other as assigned by the WASH Advisor or any other senior regional supervisor
Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:
  • Educational level required: Bachelor’s degree in Water/Civil Engineering/ hydrogeology or an equivalent.
  • Technical Training qualifications required: Professional technical skill desired (certification?)
  • Experience: 10 years of WASH experience in the field, and least 5 years as a manager.
  • Well Knowledgeable in regional Governments WASH policies, water reforms and structures related to water systems and standards.
  • They must have both an extensive conceptual understanding of / and demonstrated practical command for WASH program capacity building, management and evaluation principals:
  • The holder of this position must be a results orientated person and able to multi- task.
  • He /she must also have solid public relations skills and be a strong team player
