MSI provides affordable and innovative FP/ RH services to women, young people and men most in need of them. MSI is one of five partners implementing the 5-year Kenya Urban Reproductive Health Initiative (TUPANGE Project).

The post holder is a key member of MSK’s Senior Management Team (SMT).

Position Vacant:
 Family Planning/Reproductive Health Technical Lead, for the Private Sector

Reports To:
 Director of Programmes

Areas of Responsibilities:

MSI is seeking a Technical Lead to provide technical, programmatic and administrative leadership to the Initiative to expand access to and utilization of FP/ RH through the private sector.

Working with the consortium partners, the Technical Lead will ensure successful implementation and achievement of initiative goal and objectives especially in increasing access to and utilization of FP by the urban poor through the private sector.

Assisted by a team of Technical Team Leaders and a Program Management team, he/ she will provide programmatic, technical and managerial leadership for the Initiative.

He/ she will lead project implementation on the ground to achieve program objectives; help in the management of the MSI city teams; project budgeting and financial management; forge strong relations with key ministries, city leaders, stakeholders and other strategic partners; manage consortium activities and plans; and work with MSI’s administrative and technical support structure to manage all aspects of the program including strategy, budgets,
implementation and team management.

Qualification and Experience:
  • Master’s degree in a Social Sciences/Health or related discipline or a Equivalent Degree with a minimum of ten years of experience in managing, developing and implementing reproductive health and family planning programs at the national level; especially in the private sector.
Required Competencies:
  1. Strong program management experience with proven ability to manage large diverse teams including a team of senior technical and nontechnical team leaders.
  2. A result-oriented approach and proven ability to work within, manage, track and or coordinate complex multi-partner large-scale programs.
  3. Demonstrated managerial and leadership skills and ability to provide financial oversight of large budgets.
  4. Strong technical knowledge of family planning and reproductive health especially private sector approaches in FP/ RH will be an asset.
  5. Ability to network and negotiate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders to achieve the objectives of the program. The position will particularly require a strong ability to engage and negotiate with private sector groups and senior government officials at national level.
  6. Excellent representational and communication skills, with written and oral proficiency in English and a high degree of comfort in dealing with consortium partners, government, media, academic, corporate, nonprofit and other organizations.
  7. Ability to find innovative solutions and approaches.
  8. Experience of working on Bill &Melinda Gates Foundation funded projects, including donor requirements and compliance will be an asset.
Compensation offered is very attractive and final offers shall be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and salary history of the candidate selected.
