The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Kisumu has an opening for the position of Financial Analyst. The position will be available immediately.
Basic Function:
The incumbent reports to the Division of Global HIV/AIDS (DGHA) Nyanza Branch Associate Director for Management, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Kisumu, Kenya, with chief responsibility for day-to-day financial tracking and analysis of the President’s Emergency Plan For AIDS Relief funding for DGHA.
In this capacity, the incumbent will provide advice and guidance on the program’s financial status based on analysis and audit of fiscal records. The financial support services include program budget forecasting, tracking grant awards and disbursements, cost analysis of cooperative agreements, and providing budgetary advice to technical program officers.
The incumbent interprets U.S. Government (USG) financial and account management procedures, reviews technical program documents for budgetary and cash flow implications, and ensures efficient use of financial resources. Incumbent will serve as a liaison between CDC DHGA Nyanza Branch and the CDC DGHA Kenya Finance and Cooperative Agreements Branch.

Qualifications Required:
Note: All must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.
  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, Auditing, Commerce or Finance is required.
  • At least Five (5) years progressively responsible work experience in accounting, auditing, or financially oriented business management is required.
  • Level IV (fluent) English ability is required and Level IV (fluent) Kiswahili ability also required.
  • Must possess advanced computer skills with experience using word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Must have intermediate experience in data analysis and data entry.
Selection Process:
When equally qualified, U.S. Citizen eligible family member (usefms) and U.S. Veterans will be given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidates specifically address the required qualifications above in the application.

  • Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
  • Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
  • Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
  • Currently employed U.S. Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
  • Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
