FCI Kenya Finance and Administration Officer Job Vacancy

Family Care International (FCI)/Kenya is seeking to fill the position of Finance and Administration Officer.

FCI is an internationally recognized non-profit, non governmental organization dedicated to making pregnancy and childbirth safer in the developing world.

FCI advocates for sexual and reproductive health and rights; builds the capacity of local partners; and develops information and training materials.

Based in Nairobi, with minimal travel to project sites and reporting to the FCI Kenya Country Director, the Finance and Administrative Officer will oversee finance department and assist the Country Director with administrative duties.

Specific functions will include the following;

1. Provide comprehensive accounting support to the FCI/Kenya office, including but not limited to:
  • Maintaining general accounting ledger and FCI/Kenya bank accounts;
  • Preparation of monthly financial reports for FCI headquarters (expenses associated with FCI/Kenya office and/or locally-executed projects) in accordance with FCI financial policies and in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS’s);
  • Disbursement of funds during programmatic activities;
  • Preparation of project financial reports in accordance with IFRS, donor requirements and FCI financial policies;
  • Monitoring of changes in tax laws and ensuring compliance with all national tax requirements and relevant regulations for maintaining FCI/Kenya status;
  • Preparation of documents, reports, etc. related to the maintenance of office NGO status and adherence to tax and legal requirements;
  • Preparation of payroll in observance of local laws and FCI financial policies;
  • Managing office petty cash kitty in accordance to FCI financial policies;
  • Preparation of FCI/Kenya yearend financial reports and schedules for auditing; and
  • Maintaining neat, orderly, and secure filing system of FCI’s financial documents (e.g. invoices, contracts, vouchers, etc) with clear labels including continuous upgrading of the system.
2. Office management, administrative and programmatic assistance, including but not limited to:
  • Obtaining competitive bids and pro-forma invoices for goods and services, including researching and contacting suppliers and overseeing receipt of ordered items;
  • Maintenance and renewal of office stocks and consumable supplies;
  • Maintaining FCI/Kenya overall filing systems and ensuring clear records of incoming and outgoing materials;
  • Compilation and Maintenance fixed assets schedules including scheduling of their services and repairs in good time;
  • Management of internet connections, local area net work system and computer backup systems;
  • Other tasks, as requested.
Qualifications and Core Requirements:
  • Must be an holder of CPA( K) or ACCA part II, a degree in Business accounting and a Master’s degree in finance or administration;
  • Five or more years of pertinent experience in Finance and Administration
  • Demonstrated expertise in Great Plains accounting package
  • Previous experience in managing multiple donor financial reporting
  • Excellent writing skills appropriate to finance and administration
  • Demonstrated expertise in preparation and conducting of audits in accordance with IFRS’s
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Flexible and Ability to work as a team player.
Salary: Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualification.
