Church World Service/Overseas Processing Entity (CWS/OPE) Nairobi administers a US refugee resettlement program in Sub- Saharan Africa through a Cooperative Agreement with the Department of State/Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration.  CWS/OPE Nairobi is responsible for the preparation of refugee case files for adjudication by Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS) officers, as well as the out-processing and cultural orientation of all approved cases.
CWS/OPE Nairobi seeks qualified individuals for the Data Entry Operator position.
Position Description:
This position is primarily responsible for the processing for data entry and receipt and review of new cases eligible for the US Refugee Admissions Program in accordance with Worldwide Processing Guidelines, USCIS policies and CWS-OPE standard operating procedures.
The Data Entry Operator reports directly to the Case Processing Team Leader and works closely with the CWS-OPE operations staff.


Key responsibilities include:
  • Daily receipt, monitoring and thorough research of all new eligible refugee applications, in accordance with Worldwide Processing Guidelines and CWS-OPE standard operating procedures.
  • Maintaining a complete and accurate Pre and Post CIS data entry of file documents and corresponding WRAPS fields.
  • Searching and matching names on new applications and assigning case numbers.
  • Requesting and re-requesting Class/SAO name checks as needed.
  • Entering CWS-OPE and USCIS interview dates.
  • Scanning documents including new applications, departure records and documents on denied cases.
  • Ensuring cases have appropriate documents for specific cases and reviewing files at all points in case processing.
  • Filing, updating and locating case files including: approved and deferred cases, active cases, hold cases, inactive and rejected cases.
  • Producing and checking data entry quality assurance reports to ensure a high degree of accuracy.
  • Assisting supervisors and team leaders in overseeing projects from time to time as assigned.
  • Performing other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor to enhance the efficiency of CWS-OPE operations.
Qualifications/ Experience:
  • Minimum “O” Level education.
  • Minimum of two years working experience in a related field.
  • Ability to accurately type 40 W.P.M
  • Strong written and verbal English skills
  • Demonstrated computer skills, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work as a member of a team in a multi-cultural environment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision to enhance overall operations
  • Ability to manage a large and diverse workload under pressure with competing priorities
  • Ability to maintain high performance standard with attention to detail
  • Ability to follow instructions from Supervisor with a positive and receptive attitude
  • Ability to conduct oneself in a professional and courteous manner to represent the best interests of CWS-OPE.
  • Ability to contribute to the US Government and CWS-OPE Operational Refugee Processing Program in Africa
