The Government of Kenya has received financing from the World Bank towards the cost of the Kenya Youth Empowerment Project (KYEP), and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consultant services. The services include providing internship and training to approximately 11,000 youth aged 15 – 29 years in the private sector over the period 2011 to 2014. The youth will be placed in internships in the following sectors: Finance, ICT, Energy, Tourism, Manufacturing and MSE; and receive training appropriate to these sectors.
Given the anticipated over subscription to the internship programme, a randomized selection procedure will be used to select the required number of youth from among the pool of eligible applicants.
The project will seek the services of a firm to automate the youth selection process by:
·         Developing a software for random selection of the eligible applicants;
·         Developing a database for the eligible applicants selected by KEPSA;
·         Effecting data entry in two phases for an as yet unknown number of eligible applicants, as per the agreed upon parameters.
KEPSA now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.). Consultants may associate to enhance their qualifications.
A consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers (current edition).
Interested consultants may obtain further information at the address below during office hours [i.e. 0800 to 1700 hours].
Expressions of interest must be delivered to the address below by 5.00PM on Friday, 12th November, 2010.
